I think thatās a big stretch. What he doesnāt have great strength in is his ability to use the ball well. Hes not an innately good kick for goal and has a long way to go with his forward craft.
Heās an easy keep for 2027 for me but if heās to have any future as a small forward he needs to drastically improve his forward craft and ability to convert goals more often when he gets an opportunity.

Nguyen is the exact kind of player that would have made it in the Richmond dynasty forward line. Solid role player, unwin the same

I think he will get another year. He shows the attributes that Spike has said he values: speed, competitiveness, toughness in the contest. No where near the finished product and had his season flipped on itās head with the move forward - keen to see him develop and whether we use him forward or back.

He only logical spot in the seniors is to play as a small defender and lock away the speedy opposition forwards who have caused us concern for many years.

Nguyen is also the type of guy that the players love around the locker room, he is a real personality so good for team morale.

Heās only just finished his second year.
He will continue to improve, goal kicking snaps next on the agenda
He can play two ends of the ground
He has speed, and is defensively minded.
He doesnāt need to be best 23

Who knows, Mcgrath played mid the last game of the season, he might play more there next year following Merretās departure. Open up a spot for Nguyen down back.

In Jaydenās last few games heās roamed a long way up the ground, getting the ball on the wing or in the centre, and heās looked great in all of them, cuz he brings that same pressure wherever he is.

I really liked his game this weekend. He does so much well in this pressure forward role other than he is not a natural goal scorer/goal sneak.
I think you can get him to learn some tricks between the other small forwards around him.
But what impressed me most was his pose and set up kicks to Huss twice. I donāt think he can kick well over 30m but that 15-30m set up kick he has in his arsenal is really good.
That set shot he had from 50m does show he doesnāt have solid range to his kick but has enough players around him he can give the hands from shots around 50 - Clarke, johnson, redman Roberts etc

Iām keeping him for a BP position.
He looked a lot better pushing up the ground, is very good in traffic. Looks a bit lost playing deep forward. He is a very easy signing.

Picking up on comments in the VFL thread:
I think his best chance of making it is as a lockdown back pocket, rather than a small forward.
Maybe Mark Baguley style he can build a career as a backman, but break glass in case of needing a small forward from time to time.
