#43 Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti - WALLA MACCA TIPPA

#5765

He had no impact or quality for about 8 weeks. He’s back now. That’s what matters.

#5766

So was the rest of the team. But he copped a lot based on possessions alone.

#5767

Nah.
His defensive work rate was down. He wasn’t tackling as well as he should have. He wasn’t finding the ball. He wasn’t kicking goals.
Since about the C*nton game he’s lifted in all those areas.

He shouldn’t get kudos for just being out there.

#5768

No one was giving him kudos for anything, i never said he has been fantastic. Had some very poor games as you pointed out (Hawks, Blues) leading up to that he was decent though.

Certainly not as bad as some were making out for his role.

#5769

No, he wasn’t. There is a reason we’ve been speculating on whether or not he’s playing injured all year.

#5770

And to contradict myself on my stats point, in order to contradict your assertion he wasn’t finding the ball or kicking goals, hardly miles off last nights game in a few early on, agree completely on being off in chasing & tackling and looking hampered for a bit in between.

Considering he started the year with some pretty major strapping, good chance he was playing sore. Now the strapping is gone, coincidentally he has improved at the same time.

#5772

The side is playing a million times better also

Pretty hard to be involved as a fwd when we pinned in defence. Also he’s able to get off chain more as Raz is back who opposition try put more time into.

#5773

He’s a bit like Cyril dosen’t get many touches but when he does he’s ■■■■■■ damaging.

#5774

It’s him standing almost still and just barely shifting his weight left or right while 6 blokes trip over their feet expecting him to take off that gets me excited.

#5775

Not yet. He played a good game, but there’s still plenty of room for improvement. Which is exciting in some respects.

#5776

Has been consistent with his effort IMO. Don’t agree with the criticism he’s copped over the season.

#5777

Blow me down that Tippa is averaging 11.5 possessions per game - Small forwards playing the role that Tippa does average around 10 to 13 possessions per game - Now he could have had more impact in some games but his figures suggest Tippa’s season for a small forward are about average in all aspects of the game - My guess is few on BB understand the challenging nature of a small forwards role.

#5778

He’s not playing solely as a forward pocket though?

#5779

That’s peak tippa for me. Ever so slight movement and people run right by him. He has absolute supreme timing with these deft movements and it’s nuts how evasive he can be with them

#5780

That game agains Nth Melbourne a couple of years ago. That was peak Tippa all day long.

#5781

Why are people pretending he’s had a good year???

He’s been very ordinary and lucky to be selected on occasions.

Great to see him get closer to his best though. Hope he comes home strong for the remainder of the year.

#5782

So Walla and Daniher started the year carrying injuries. Completely stuffed up our start for the season. When will the club learn not to play injured players. They could have given the youngsters a go from the beginning of the year.

He’s had a very disappointing year like the club, and like the club he’s had a few good games recently. Needs to keep it going but I’m seen some much better running efforts in the last few games.
