#43 Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti - WALLA MACCA TIPPA - till 2022

Its a shame i love the crowd noise, hate the fkn Muppets talking.
Also too lazy to setup a sync with tv and radio, so ill stick to me swearing at the box instead.

Those stats likely skewed because he played half back flank most of last year. Of course he will get more disposals playing there than forward. Nevertheless, Iā€™m stoked heā€™s getting some hype and recognition in the mediaā€¦deserves it all.

Nice to know we have a few blokes in All-Australian contention this year - Hurley, Zerrett, JD, Fantasia and Walla.

The hell is Tom Papley?

Swans rookie last year. Was excellent throughout the H&A season, only to go completely missing when it mattered in the big dance. Can hardly criticize a 20 game ā€œveteranā€ for struggling to deal with finals pressure, he had a heap of far more experienced team mates suffer the same affliction though.

Was thinking the same thing

PLAYS FOR ESSENDON. NO CHANCE.

Anyone else remember the days when we used to mock Richmond for only being able to field one indigenous player in the Dreamtime game?

We had 5 in at one point IIRC vs their one Titch

Ryder. NLM. Davey. Jetta. Dempsey.

Now itā€™ll be their three versus our one TIPPA

Edwards. Rioli. Bolton (debut this week).

Well, ā€¦ two last ones at least.

Walla, ā€¦ dual Indigenous rep player.

Grandson of one of the VFA superstars who preferred to play VFA rather than VFL. Lots of Port Melbourne players preferred to stay at Port rather than play with South. Luckily for South, Bobby Skilton did make the move, albeit reluctantly.

Max Papley only played a handful of years in the VFL, after starting at Moorabbin (made extinct when St Kilda moved there in 1965) and then went to Williamstown after his South Melbourne career. Saw him give Allan Hird Jr one of the the great mothers of all hidings down at the Lakeside one day.

Yepā€¦ Letā€™s hope Tippa doesnā€™t get injured before Dreamtime! Well, of course hope he never gets injuredā€¦ but would hate to have 0 indigenous players in the Dreamtime game.

Love how the crowd gets behind him every time heā€™s near the ball or goes for one of his runs.

Read a quote the other day where he said it scares him when he gets the ball as the crowd noise makes him think thereā€™s someone on his hammer lol

We have 2 indigenous players on our list.

One is a father-son that has been around the club since he was born.

The other was an employee of the club, that had to jump through a number of hoops to even be looked at, even though he has better skills than 99% of the list.

I know many people will point to Yestin Eades as a direct reason why we shouldnā€™t take risks on kids from tough back grounds, but there is a middle ground between the very low risk pick ups of Tippa and Longy : to high risk draftees like Yestin Eades.

The risk isnā€™t picking the kid, the risk is not having proper support networks in place to help people adjust to new lifestyles.

It of course give and take.

Iā€™d like him to get some more midfield minutes. His skill set seems very transferable to a midfield role - pace, power, tackling, creativity, excellent disposal, ability to win contested ball. He could be a scary proposition.
