#45 Conor McKenna - the first six years

Guy from Cork (I think) I used to work with got easier to understand the more he drank.

Cork isn’t too bad accent wise. The more drinks had the easier it is to understand

West cork is a really slow long drawl. Nothing makes it easier to understand except exposure. Mixing it with a shady fast talking character from Derry definitely didn’t help.

Kind of the Queensland of Ireland, then.

Accent wise yes.

Probably my favourite part of Ireland though, besides Sligo.

You were drinking with him though, right?

You bet. That’s why I was never sure if it was that or I just got better at understanding him.

I found Cork okay… the singsongy nature of it made it easier for me.

Working class Belfast on the otherhand… especially after a few drinks - really hard.

And farmers (pretty much from any county) - always hilariously incomprehensible.

It’s more the “logic” they use.

Q: How do I get to Ballykissmyarse?
A: Well, I wouldn’t start from here…

Apparently he’s off to Las Vegas

Unrelated, but what does @Albert_Thurgood think of your existence?

Well if he hadn’t of been suspended in 1901, i wouldn’t need to exist. His own fault really.

Never asked him though.

@Albert_Thurgood do you believe I exist?

Don’t love the constant commentary on his accent and how we can’t understand him, both on here and in the media.

If Conor was of Asian descent would we be mocking his accent or saying we cannot understand him?

Let’s not have double standards here.

I’ve heard worse from outback Australia.

I’ve heard worse in my office.

Doesn’t make it right if you have.

I think he means accents. Not racist slurs.
