If I was an Essendon player, reading blitz would drive me out of the country too.

IT’S TIME

@barnz is this another thread you wanted to stay out of?

why? xavier is responsible for evetrything going wrong with conors life right now with his complete no defense of him when the media came calling.

never forget this club will not protect its players.

this club owes him for not defending him when the media went for his throat.

I think we are a better team without McKenna.

It was an extraordinary year, last year, in a football sense with COVID, the media were waiting with baited breath for a positive COVID test for a footballer and it happened, so they pounced.

How is this different from any person in the spotlight, should Conor had been treated differently because he was an international player?, it happens all the time depending on the situation, you are playing AFL you are in the spotlight.

If Conor can’t handle the media and turn a blind eye to it maybe it’s best he stays in his shell.

lol ok if you think last year was the normal media scrutiny level for players.

I loved Conor he could of been a great of the club. Unfortunately he reached his goal of becoming a regular senior player and was happy to leave it there. He wasn’t motivated by money, he wasn’t motivated by winning AFL premierships.
I’m guessing he was just a young kid that was initially excited about a payed holiday and a story to tell his mates when he returned home. And unfortunately for us he didn’t fall in love with the game.
I agree this isn’t the mindset we need to win premierships

Although I think the media treatment of Conor was pretty bad and the club should of spoken up more. It wasn’t the reason he left. He was looking for excuses to leave from right back when he left to go to his brothers wedding.

However it does bother me that the club hasn’t really stuck up for a player that the media has been taking shots at since Lovett Murry got stabbed.

Come back Conor. All is forgiven.

Conor is one of my all-time favourite EFC players. He was ■■■■■■■ awesome; so good that even his mistakes were entertaining. I’d love to see him play for us again…if properly committed.

Does anyone know if the club is still in contact with him? Or was it a definite goodbye last year?

I loved Conor too. But he basically said to the club he only wanted to play fwd and he wasn’t really invested.

I want 2019 McKenna back. 2020 can stay in Ireland.

Hope he lives his Gaelic dream.

We’re a better team this year for several reasons. McKenna leaving isn’t one of them. He would have been very very handy across half forward on Saturday night making unexpected ■■■■ happen
