#45 Conor McKenna - Return of The McK - nope

I agree - but it’s been good to chat about something that’s a bit of fun and that has a glimmer of hope in the future.

In the unlikely event that he did wanna return, he’d be coming back to a much better club than what he left last year.

He might as well wait until we are through our development and come back for the glory of the Davey years.

Maybe he has gone back home and realized that he actually doesn’t like his family as much as he thought!

Surely you mean “right good craic in Australia”

Ray Connellan reckons Conor made a big sacrifice. A sacrifice ? Nup. He will be back to pick up his car soon…

What are you drinking ? Went to a place called pokertree once ? Does it still exist? Had some nice brews. Couple of distilleries in Carrickmore as well if I remember, and I don’t rememeber much of most of my irish visits. My relatives tend to drink a bit.

AFL Conor >>> GAA Conor

He stands out more in his non-native sport.

Left $500k/yr (and his car!) behind to return to play non-paid amateur sport

Big sacrifice - but amazingly achieved his dream first season back

Few seem to realise, homesickness is real. After all, plenty want to leave one city here and go home. What must it be like for someone who is literally from the other side of the world? Maybe Conor wanted more from his life than lots of money, car or no car. I hope he’s happy back in Ireland.

Maybe his family feel the same.

Perhaps he was just sick of Melbourne, hence the mis quote which should read any other AFL club want a half back flanker?

For me its a conversation to have a minimum 2-3 year commitment with approval to go home for 2 months at season end. Anything less and its best he stays in Ireland and we develop the current list. I have always been high on Conor’s ability…i also want the club to have a healthy appetite to win best 22 spots so i like the idea of 25-30 quality players that could easily be best 22 fighting it out. So not against the option at all… but it has to be a serious commitment to the club. He can play various positions with his ability so his fit in the side is flexible.

I reckon a week in Ireland before season and a week during the bye week would be manageable. I’d actually prefer to structure that from the start rather than lock in the 10 month block in Aus and hope for the best.

Why a week when players have 8 weeks off?
