One more time- let’s all exchange some energy
haha I have never seen this before. what year was that?
Was his first game. Did a Mal Meninga, apart from the quitting bit.
Thanks for the Diseaseographer support.

RT-PCR tests are excellent in ideal conditions
RT-PCR tests are considered the gold standard for detecting many viruses, and a number of companies are making them.
Researchers at the Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics, a nonprofit research center in Geneva, tested five COVID-19 RT-PCR tests and found that all five achieved 100% sensitivity on positive samples, and at least 96% specificity on negative samples in a laboratory setting.
What makes a medical test ‘accurate’?
The accuracy of a medical test is determined by measuring two things: sensitivity and specificity.
A sensitive test will correctly identify people with the disease. Sensitivity measures correct positive results.
A specific test will accurately identify people without the disease. Specificity measures correct negatives.
If a test is 90% specific, it will correctly identify 90% of people who are not infected – registering a true negative. However, 10% of people who are not infected will test positive for the virus and receive a false positive.

It’s this sort of stuff I based my diseaseographers opinion on.
Norman May have just got his sensitivity & specificity ■■■■ about.
I had to triple check my reading of this stuff.
But then again I’ve had practice trying to decipher some of the football related posts on Blitz.

1 day even, as test 1 was done on friday morning
test 2 on saturday morning.
technically 2 days yes, but both tests could have been potentially done in the space of a 24 hour period.
Without making too much of it, people need to understand the biggest problem with the tests being used (PCR tests) is that they generate a large proportion of false negatives (at least 25-30%), The PCR is a very specific test. It typically doesn’t detect the virus in the first 5 days after exposure, is most sensitive (90+% accurate) in the 8-12 day window, and will not typically detect after 15 days. Antibody tests are now being used in other countries to map the virus. But not here.
Most probably Conor had the virus, but was at the end of it. His sequence of tests is very consistent with asymptomatic case studies observed elsewhere.
I know one of the Bomber Covid testers (they do all the clubs) and they said they’ve done heaps of blood test and Conor has had the virus at some point. They just don’t know how long ago.
He signs for the bombers and he’ ll be tested from here to christmas.
Whats the odds of testing negative for 2 weeks, not having any of your house mates test +ive?
This case is very weird
It’s a very medical case
All depends on who you play for. And how much fuss you kick up.
Most of what I have read about Brett Sutton makes me think he’s a person that cares about people. 10 years as an ED Doctor working in London, Sydney, Victoria and Tasmania. But then he worked in third world countries, and became aware of the potential for saving many more lives than he could as an ED Doctor by moving into population health. He worked in Afghanistan, Timor, Kenya and Ethiopia. He helped in Fiji in 2017 after Cylcone Winston. It concerned him that a toddler with ebola died in a room by herself, without human touch, and has advocated for creative palliative care solutions within humanitarian crises. He says when Victoria had the one day with over 100 cases “I couldn’t sleep, I was emotionally fragile and I was desperate”. This man strikes me as more than just a statistician.
the amount of times i see this meme outside of the footy context is so great
As a doctor who’s had a fair bit to do with COVID I find so many of the public opinions and actions absolutely baffling. I just don’t understand why so many people think they have any position to comment on something that in all reality they haven’t the slightest conceptual understanding of even if they did read the wiki article on COVID and half the references.
Boy am I glad to be a western australian right about now.
And no I don’t particularly want to comment on any specifics of connor’s case for a) I’m not connor’s doctor and am not about to try formulate something based off nothing but media speculation b) it’s grossly unprofessional and immoral for someone’s medical circumstances to be watercooler chat.
This thread really should be a whole lot more about the cool ■■■■ connor can do with a footy in hand.
I feel the same way about the football media.
You’re likely to get over it quickly.
Not “will” get over it quickly.
People in their 20s and 30s have still died from this.
