As far as an unknown quantity, Tom Edwards our 2025 SSP rookie forward fits that bill alright. Unassuming, humble and with a ruffled looking … a teacher who can play a bit, is suddenly our tomorrow night’s secret weapon. Our stealth Bomber. A player Dees know little about and who could, with a bit of space and half decent deliveries, give us a bit of a chance in i50 conversion rates and simple goals. He has a real goal sense you can’t teach easily to lesser forwards. We’ve just got to find him tomorrow night.

So, fingers crossed his body sees the game out just fine. Fingers crossed he gets a goal early to settle him down. And fingers crossed Brad grants him a decent TOG%.

Can see it now, clear as day.. Robey on the burst to Tom lace out with a 40m bullet on his chest a few times .. oh yes. Tsatas with another smart clearance lobs an inverted torp to our thinking forward edging his oppo under the ball for another mark and goal. Yes please.

So go well Tom .. show us your skill and nous, and how to kick bloody goals galore. Demand the ball because this spacious AO will suit you sir just fine.

So both Tom and his father “Ted” are both playing for us tomorrow?!!

Where I disagree

Cillian Bourke has not even played a VFL game, give him a chance.
Peter Wright has no trade value.
Vigo Visentini started to show something, give him another year.

Freo picked Cox DFA.
Wright would have value, but it would be late junk picks.
If we moved him on more about freeing up spot for a young guy to play. - Gerryn/May

This is just absurd speculation.

Our forward line from here on out must be:

Robey Caddy Kako
HEA May Edwards

every. single. week.

No more Langford, Guelfi, Wright etc. These 6 guys are the future and we need to get as many games into them as possible

That forward line hardly has much form behind it. Kako and Caddy yes but the rest have maybe played 20 games collectively. Other than a purple patch of three, how many goals has May kicked? Edwards seems a genuine threat but has played less than 10 games all up. Huss has to get some fitness behind him otherwise he is an impedament defensively.
Langford is down but he had two consecutive seasons of kicking 40+ goals. I would have him dropped but hopefully to find form again.

I wouldn’t stop at uncontracted.

Yes its a young forward line. They need time to grow and learn together.

Fair enough.

I reckon these days Wright plays better in the ruck and around the ground.

Huss needs a long stint in the VFL. Hardly touched it in his two AFL games and was no better in the VFL. He is one who needs to develop both physically and game wise in the vfl before he gets another shot.

Better than Langford, Perkins and any other medium forward we currently have

I’d sign him before Perkins in a heartbeat

A pretty quiet day, but he still ended up with two goals and six tackles. This guy is shaping up as a very handy player, he seems to have natural qualities that are hard to teach.

Reminds me a bit of McMahon, really good at kicking goals, but a bit of a liability in general play.
