I would think signing Blakiston a year gives you a 3rd ruck option behind Bryan and Vigo meaning Goldy can be finished.
And as the 5th string tall back man meaning Laverde can be moved.
Wins all round

His best position is clearly ruck / wing.
Will play first ruck option round 1 we will see
With Harley Reid at his feet, weāll be unstoppable.

East freo want him released for finals?
Awkward if weāre gonna offer him a contract. But I suppose if heās going to get injured itāll be before contracts are done.
Disagree in that he hasnāt done an AFL and that he was a ruckman expected to do some big jobs in defence, due to almost our entire backline being injured.
Showed alot of heart. Who knows what he could accomplish.
Itās interesting to ponder, was his performance as a kpd noticeably worse than McKays last 15 or so games of footy? Iād argue that no, it wasnāt. Ben was not in good form as we all repeatedly noted through the first half of the year.
If Laverde is departing - seems inevitable - then even if he just takes that role as the break glass option behind Reid, McKay, Hayes , Ridley then itās a pretty obvious, pretty cheap, one year deal to see how he develops as a league player.
Someone said on Reddit that Twomey is saying Blakiston & McMahon have confirmed 1 year deals. Can anyone confirm?
True, would be interesting to see what he performed like after a pre season and with some more support around / or in a position he knows. His age worries me but could be the new more versatile Laverde
If you call it that sure.
Imagine oh boy
Will we let him? I hope so.
No deal yet for Blaki but deals for Prior and McMahon?
Iād say just waiting for Draper and Lavās futures to be formalised. Heāll get another year, and deserves one and be better for enrolment into āOld Goldā School of ruckwork and whoever works on defensive drills out at Tulla.
Hope he signs on soon now that draper is done.
I do have a bad feeling west coast might be offering him a deal.
Reckon he will head back to WA. Will walk in to the WCE side.
