With Langford coming back post bye it will be difficult for him to get in the side. I really wanna see him at AFL level though, he could be a real find this guy. I don’t think they’ll drop May after one week though, especially with the game being in w.a where he just got recruited from.
I’m all for giving these MSD guys a crack to see if they are worth holding for the longer term. The issue with being a key forward at Essendon at the moment is that you will be playing in a completely dysfunctional system and getting very few looks at goal. Almost better just kicking bags in the VFL.
He could but i really think he efc need to get their head around the concept of maximum 2 tall forwards, surrounded by pressure smalls. It’s what all the top teams do.
The more small ground ball players the better. In saying that, Perkins is useless in this aspect too so they wouldn’t be losing much replacing him with another tall.
I wouldn’t be upset if Caddy and Kako were also rested. Giving them 2 week break and saving them interstate travel or could just make them travelling emergencies Kako, Caddy and Goldstein so it doesn’t impact VFL too much.
Would give us opportunity to play the other MSD picks McMahon and Smartt.
Our backline looks horribly undermanned again …even if its more wet weather footy on the cards, I’d prefer to see Hobbsy as sub and Blakiston backing up Prior and Lav off the bench. Guelfi and Gresham are enough to cycle through as small forward numbers. Setters obviously our BBM with Merrett, Calders and Parish and a few cameos from Martin I hope…
Young Archie Roberts, Zac Johnson and Clarke are sure gunna be tired by the time the final whistle blows given little obvious 7th defender cover … apart from big Blakiston. Deckchairs on the Titanic anyone?
Having said that, I reckon Freo are beatable, if we start better that is.
