Apparantly will be done as soon as FA opens on Friday.

Cannot say with total certainty JB, but I’m pretty sure Nov 1 it opens for DFA’s

So 1 November is Dea-Day?

Hi Bomber

Is Bomber agreeing or off on a mental tangent, imagining a salad roll?

"It is with great delight that I announce the Club’s intention to offer James Kelly and Matt Dea contracts for next season.

Both James and Matt finished in the top ten in the Crichton Medal and we’ve been in constant dialogue with them since the conclusion of the season.

They are both keen to remain with us, and that should become official from November 1 – the date delisted free agents can sign with clubs.

Our short term recruits arrived at Essendon at a challenging time at the start of this year but through their leadership and hard work we were able to make great strides in 2016.

Matt earned the respect of his teammates through his courage and ability to read the play while James was a tremendous source of knowledge and experience for our young group.

We hoped to walk away from the year having discovered four young players who could feature in our best side in 2017.

Not only were we able to achieve that, but we will now be able to add two hardened players to our group as well, not to mention our ten returning players who will be coming back from a year away.

We will have a much stronger squad in 2017 and we are excited that Matt and James are set to be a part of it."

Kelly, Dea Back In

Essendon Football Club is pleased to advise it intends to offer both James Kelly and Matt Dea a position on the Essendon list at the commencement of the delisted free agency trade period on 1 November 2016.

General Manager – Football, Rob Kerr, said the Club was confident Kelly and Dea would make a positive impact on the team in 2017.

“We have been in constant dialogue with James, Matt and each of their management groups since the end of the season regarding the opportunity for them to return,” Kerr said.

“They both had outstanding seasons in 2016 and were important leaders for the team both on and off the field.

“We know James and Matt are keen to play on in the red and black and we are looking forward to what they can continue to offer with their experience next season.”

Triple-premiership player and All Australian, James Kelly, played 20 games with the Bombers in 2016, finished equal second in the Club’s best and fairest and his career thus far extends to 293 games.

2015 Richmond VFL best and fairest winner, Matt Dea, played 21 games with the Bombers in 2016, finished eighth in the Club’s best and fairest and reached his 50 game milestone this season.

WOOHOO

Well done. Thoroughly deserved and is in a nice age demographic with plenty of footy left if he continues to perform.

I reckon Matty bought in 100% the moment they rang him and suggested he become a top up. And he never took a step backwards from that point on.

Well done Matty Dea.

Is Wilthon seething?

Seasons over, trade season not begun, sticking it to Richmond already, got a good feeling about the future
