#49 Tom Hird

Hird could have a very good career as a VFL player if he wants. Unsurprising that the club have let him go, doesn’t have the tools yet (or ever) to play AFL.

Poor bloke. Didn’t get much of a chance

Didn’t really deserve one

shame, but maybe the next Hird generation will rise to carry things forth

plus it’ll make it easier for his dad to coach us next year…

Feel bad for the kid that he didn’t get to play at least one game for the club. I understand it, but feel bad for him

Would have liked to see him get at least one game in second half of the season.

Bullsh_t he never got given a game. Yet another example of ordinary decisions the club have perfected as an art form.

i actually reckon he was starting to show something, and i was extremely suspect on his signing in the first place.

We’ve had way worse play senior footy for us.

If Sheeds was coaching he would have worked out a way to play all of Jimmy’s kids in the one match including Stephanie.

I’d say tough on the kid but hey his old man’s J Hird and I’m sure he can still half ■■■■ his way through a commerce degree and get handed some corporate gig paying buckets

(Incidently which is why we struggle we do really need to recruit more kids who have nothing but football. They have to make it)

Odd decision considering he could have got a 1 year extension on the B list, effectively a free list spot. Either the club was convinced he’d never make it and pulled the Band-Aid or they’ve got another alternative talent lined up.

I thought he was developing well, considering this was his first proper year playing footy.

or removing conflict of interest of Hird coaching his son.

Please. Tom was as average as average gets.

He will always have that Anzac day VFL game.

he warranted a call up to the 1s after that game.

it was a standout performance but he didn’t back it up.

It’s not as easy as you think tbh, one of my mates father is extremely famous, his Dads a legend and a really good dude but i reckon his life would be easier if his old man wasn’t known by most of the country.

Go well Tom, keep playing and you could still get a shot somewhere else.

Don Bradman’s son , an athlete, changed his family name, but it travelled with him in the cricket playing countries.
Competed in a comp in Norway, became friends with a Norwegian family I knew, said it was the first time in his life to be accepted as a person in his own right.

Back to soccer maybe? I thought he showed promise, but was clearly coming from a long way back. All the best Tom.

Maybe not good enough but id have loved him to have had a chance even one time instead of ham.

Didn’t have the tools but it was fun watching him run around and good on him for having a crack.
