#5 Brent Stanton - returns as VFL coach

After all the ■■■■ this guy has copped over the years, give him a send off game this week!

If Brent Stanton is on your list then you automatically become a better club off and on the field. 255 games, 158 goals, 7 years avg 24 disposals or more. He ran and ran to help out his team mates. In his last year he dedicated his services after 4 years of pain to help the kids develop in the VFL to make the club more competitive. He is class, dignity and incredibly loyal as anyone to wear the Red Sash. Much love to you and your family Stants. Will be missed. Don’t be a stranger.

Problem was that after 2011, no one was allowed to say anything about him on these boards because you were a Stanton basher.

He was such a good accumulator of touches and didn’t matter if it was in the first minute or the last minute he would run and run and run. His disposal early on was very poor but he worked on it and got it to the point where it was excellent.

And kicking For goal, not sure the actual stats but always felt confident when he had a set shot

GPS is just the way to quantify work rate and endurance. His tank meant a lot more in the old days. now players get to strut their stuff in bursts, but many of todays “impact” players would blow up by half time at Stants work rate.

Pipe down Stanton basher

Also believe he still held the record in DT by a midfielder until Fark Gibbs passed him this year

It’s up to Jesse Hogan to carry the baton now

:sob:

Right call. Right time.

Not many highlights of Stants because he really wasn’t that kind of player. But dragging the team over the line in the last quarter against Port in…2012?..on one leg has to be up there.

No way

I was never his biggest fan but have nothing but respect for him. Expectations were probably unfair because he was the only decent option in a very bare midfield for so long. Exceptional club man and I wish him nothing but success. If every kid worked as hard as stants on and off the field… we would have a very very good team!!

Oh yes that day; 2013
Kicked a couple of goals and as you rightly said, virtually carried us to an important win off one leg. Champion

Um, playing VFL all year suggests not…

Thanks for everything stants.

The guy gave everything everytime he put on the jumper

Feel like he never had much of a chance this season with the swap in positions but he still gave it his best
