#5 Elijah Tsatas (Part 2)

Have a look at the recording of the F***Carlton match - although we didn’t win, Setterfield was essential in keeping us in the game to the very end.

Tsatas gets a huge number of possessions, but his kicking is notoriously abominable, he’s unfit physically, and peahearted when it comes to tackling an opponent. Either he shapes up or he will be shipped out.

I can’t decide whether Hobbs is short on talent, or lazy like Perkins and unfit, or just doesn’t know how to make an impact.

I’d keep Shiel before Perkins or Hobbs - and that isn’t exactly praise for Shiel.

Absolutely agree, I wanted Tsatas ahead of Setterfield for the bigger mid from pre-season this year, I was bullish. But Setters is streets ahead of him in my book now.

Setterfield was good on the weekend. The challenge for him now is to get more of the ball and become damaging with it

Sorry mate what conversation is this?

This is not a thing. No coach has ever been goaded into picking a player because of trade rumours.

From the player sponsor meeting.
They were asked about what’s happening with Tsatas from a development stand point.
Rosa said he has massive strengths but has some weaknesses and the coaches are working closely with him to fix them and that Elijah is a very driven guy who is working very hard to fix them (from memory I can’t remember word for word )
They were also asked if they would move him around to work on those weaknesses but I can’t remember the response something about basically it’s midfield and that’s it for him.

I cant beleive the club has to put in so much development for a kid that was pick 5 it’s mind boggling really.

You mean like the 9 years three clubs and the world has waited for our other pick 5 Setterfield to get a regular gig at a mediocre Essendon? And truthfully, I’m still not sold.

Some players take time. I will wait for Tsatas.

Yeah if he hasn’t packed up his locker and left that is

Thanks for sharing mate. Did you walk
Away feeling they rated him and he will get a chance soon?

Managers drip feed bullshit to the media for all sorts of reasons trying to strong arm clubs is just one of them.

Doesn’t mean it’s effective but exists all the same.

He avoids human interaction which is why he’s a good clearance player

Matt Kennedy looking good at his third club too.

This thread is all because he was pick 5.

If he was pick 45, we’d still be in Part 1 with about 1000 posts in the thread.

Honestly, probably not in those situations they generally sugar coat it to fans and say what they need to but the fact they openly discussed that he had weaknesses leans me towards they don’t.
But who knows what they are thinking that’s just my geuss from a thirty second statement

Nah, if pick 45 was getting 35 and 10 clearances a week in the VFL we’d have plenty calling for his inclusion.

You mean like Clarke used to?

So you’re saying that Tsatas should be given 9 years, despite the fact that the player you are comparing him to (which you are not sold on) received 9 years.

It’s not a bad call but also not a great one, Tsatas has a lot more going for him than Clarke or NOB, thess guys were just VFL pigs, Tsatas has some toe and a good football brain in and around the ball.

This is where I disagree. I don’t see this toe everyone speaks of, even at VFL level. Now someone may post a single video of him running through a pack and kicking the ball, but this is not a consistent act. At least Clarke was defensively minded. Both had the same kicking flaw that the ball hangs in the air to long and they both lacked penetration, but Clarke was technically more sound.

Players are entitled to some development, but the fundamentals like kicking, handballing and marking should be there at any pick, yet alone pick 5. The development should revolve around fitness, footy IQ and professional standards.
