#5 Elijah Tsatas (Part 2)

Yep, but what is he for possessions - amongst the top 5.

Divide his average SI per game by his average average disposals per game and he will rank nowhere near as highly. Salllow, no longer in the Suns’s best side had double the number of SIs today that Tsatas did with 4 less possessions.

Ok but you do realise that of players who have played over three games in the vfl he is sixth for score involvements and second for score involvement percentage.
So he is actually pretty good at that and that’s even including the weird way the vfl count score involvements.
So what’s next that he has to check off?

That is literally what score involvement percentage is which he is rated second for players over 3 games

I want a stat for how many times lij dishes off but there’s no SI because a team mate downstream farked up.

Fair point. When i watch him he does give a lot 1-2 type handballs and then kicks wide to a free player (if he has one). I want to sim him look up the ground and starting delivering 30m-40m on an angle through the corridor. This means he needs to really back himself in with his kicks.

He needs to lay a lot more tackles when he doesn’t win the ball at stoppages. Doesn’t lay anywhere near enough for an inside mid.

Not quite right. I have been duped by that stat too.

It shows how many of the teams scores that player was involved in, not the proportion of disposals that player had that resulted in a goal.

For example, by that metric, Parish is first for SI% amongst midfielders. But when you look at his score involvements per disposal, he is well below other players

I think over the past five or six games I can’t remember but has been averaging 4.6 tackles a game the only other players to be above that afl and vfl is Caldwell and setterfield.
The kick to handball ratio has greatly improved today had more kicks then handballs and got more of it around the ground today.
The real next big step would be kicking goals but honestly at this point it’s a minor thing and if the coaches want him to do that they should give him a half forward role to work on it.
he continual gets criticised and then works on those areas, In my mind if we had more players that worked on their games like him we would be a better side yet some are just gifted afl games

My bad on that but he is still the best rated bomber for that metric

All good. Like I said, I was also confused by that metric!

Tsatas isn’t close to being our number one player by that metric at afl level though. He ran at a rate worse than Lav and Vigo

Surely he gets his chance next week?
Was in line to play if they pulled Duursma and now looks like Calders is injured and Perkins form continues to go to ■■■■.

Please give him a string of games. We need to work out who on our list is worth keeping and who needs to be let go. Drip feeding games to him, subbing him off and holding him over as emergency is not doing him any favours.

Yeah of course he doesn’t get the game time or games for that.
I was talking about vfl

Swallow is averaging less score involvements per game then Tsatas in the VFL this year.

Hard to be involved in a high percentage of your teams scores when your only getting 49% game time. I don’t think it’s fair to judge him on such a small sample size anyway, give him 5 games in a row on ball in the 1s and then we will see what he can do.

I agree. And I think that Wheelo score involvement percentage is stupid for that reason. % of touches that are score involvements is a much better metric.

Better? They are just completely different metrics.

You know what I mean. Strange

I don’t. Its like saying tackles are better then marks. They are unrelated stats, one isn’t better or worse then the other.

Adding to this conspiracy. Liam McMahon kicked 3 goals against Carlton in the VFL and had 0 score involvements.
