We gave him a bunch of games in the middle after his stint on the HBF was a failure

Brad picks and chooses who he displays patience with

Stupid coach, trying to win games of football; what was he thinking?

Well…..that worked well

I wonder how much Sam **** Mitchell was worried about winning when he spent two years pumping games in to kids.

Yep, going for the short term quick fix. Certainly worked out well didn’t it. Just as it had for his previous 2 seasons in charge

IF (yes, a very big and uncertain IF) Tsatas can fulfil his potential as a pick 5 midfielder, then I dont mind the look of a 2028 midfield group of Sharp, Tsatas, Caldwell.

i’m pretty confident mitchell was very focussed on winning, while also pumping games into the youngsters.

it just so happened that he felt he could win games of football with the youngsters, even before he did start doing so.

I guess the point was, did he prioritize playing youth over winning games, I would yes and I would say that Brad doesn’t.

Personal opinion as to what is the best strategy.

I agree that Brad is not prioritising youth development, despite the crazy selection practices last season.

I think Brad is worried about keeping his job.

134 wins, 145 losses, and 1 draw across 280

Going to crack the 300 games next year and I don’t think that ratio is going to get any better for him, some might even have the opinion that he’s a below average coach if you base your opinion on statistics and facts.

Things can change quickly with coaches, just two years ago the jungle drums were beating. He made a big mistake this trade period putting all his eggs in the Merrett trade and ultimately have come out not improving his side at all. Which is a big blue in my opinion.

A bad run of injuries and the weight of expectations getting the better of the group coupled with a tough draw could definitely see them finish mid table next couple of years then the slow downward spiral begins. Hopefully.

We selected the equal second youngest team over the 2025 season, I don’t think Brad could have reasonably done much more to develop our young players. You still need some experienced players out there directing traffic and teaching the younger players what to do.

But Brad Scott admitted he only played all of the young players cos of injuries.

But he didn’t play Tsatas…

Yeah he did. Tsatas was picked for round 1, got injured in round 2, then when he returned showed he wasn’t up to it. You can’t be a midfielder and be gassed at half time. I’m hopeful a big preseson will address that to some degree, but it’s just that, hope. Until he can run out a game and actually chase an opponent, I doubt Brad will playing play him.

For Tsatas to have any chance of making it, he needs to elevate himself into a strong midfield runner. A lot of things will click into place if he can gut run.

I think Brad did the team selection last season moreso to tank than to develop the young players.

Our problem over the last 20+ years has been that the “experienced” players only teach the younger players how to put in a minimum effort to stay on the list. Look at the “50 worst games” thread to see accounts of the many gutless performances that have plagued this club.

Good to hear Elijah has significantly improved his fitness. This should be evident in pre-season i hear.
