Or maybe play him as a tagger? Plenty of young midfielders have got their start like that. Run with the best and try and stop them.

Nope I mentioned that and completely understand that every draft has top picks that don’t work out. He hasn’t been given a chance, he’s played about 2 games in 6 weeks it’s ■■■■ management
41 touches, a goal and a bunch of clearances, he earnt a call up. With no VFL this week at least give him the sub vest

He hasn’t set the world on fire at AFL level though. The VFL form is nice, but unless it translates…then it’s kind of meaningless.

First emergency.
He’s barely had a chance to.
He went into his last AFL game having played 1 game in 5 weeks. Hardly surprising that he might not have been going at 100%.
Making him sit out a week in the VFL, then giving him a single game only to drop him again was probably the stupidest idea imaginable.
It’s almost like someone is trying to set him up to fail. At least if they were, I can’t think of much more they could do.

He was poised for a starting role in round 1. Had a ripping offseason and was one of our best in round 2.
Gets a minor injury and of course Brad uses this excuse to quickly erase the worst positional move in 20 years by moving Dylan Shiel (who couldn’t possibly just play VFL) into the midfield and the rest is history. He won’t drop Dylan. We can’t afford two of the same type and so that’s that.
It’s complete and utter mismanagement - Massimo style.

We throw good money after bad every minute that Shiel is in the team - sub or otherwise.
He’s played 14 games at AFL level, we don’t know if it translates or not. Not everyone is Nick Daicos that dominates from day 1
There’s no VFL this week, there is no reason why he couldn’t have at least been the sub. But nah let’s go Dylan Shiel

If he leaves because he’s sooked it up at having to fight for his spot, and then do enough to retain it when he gets it, then ok.
But I dont think he is sooking. I think hes a fighter. But I also think he is taking time to learn AFL level midfield craft, and the fact he hasnt got another position on the field is what is keeping him out as a young player

That excuse of can only play one position apparently only applies to tsatas and no other player in the side.
I said in setterfield as thread why not move him to a wing to which everyone said he only has one position and that’s mid and that’s cool
