#5 Elijah Tsatas

The Tsatas vs Pou arguement will be put to bed this year.
Tsatas will crack our midfield and show he’s talent and Pou will be in and out of the saints side bookmark this

You may be right in the end but Pou was fantastic as a mid in the last 5 rounds of the season last year.
I recon he will be a mainstay for them next season.

Has already played 37 games in his first 2 seasons, I Think Ross likes him.
Will be a gun.

Pou looks like a legitimate gun, his end of year was quality.

A Caddy / Pou duo roaming mid forward would’ve been something else

Thats great to hear.
The exciting thing is that he doesnt need to be an elite kick to be a good player, given his other strengths.

If he can become an above average kick for his position he’s a fair chance to be our best player in a couple of years.
I really rated the games I watched him in the vfl.
Really strong extracting mid who runs hard.

Personally think his game is very similar to Oliver at Melbourne.

Nah. Oliver is an elite extractor, nose over the footy, wins the contested ball type. At least he was until he fell of the rails. I don’t see that absolutely within Tsatas. He’s a guy who is around the footy and if it spills out, he can win it. He’s not the type that rips a footy out of congestion.

I want to see him use his speed, which is apparently an asset of his. Yet to have taken a bounce in his AFL career to date. Strange given he spent a significant portion of his time when in the AFL team on a wing, where you should be out in open space more than if you’re a centre square player.

This is paywalled, if someone could post the full article that would be appreciated.

I love this time of year when we dominate play against ourselves.

That bottom picture isn’t the worst. There are a number of players in the AFL who do this. The issue with Tsatas is that he didn’t control the ball to under the waist, as he is in the top photo. Previously he’d let the ball drop well above the waist and his guide hand went away from the ball, meaning an inconsistent ball drop. That does look better to be fair to him.

Nah, it’s just a generic preseason training thread, not nl knew threads for each session

Pou will be an absolute gun.

Tsatas might be too unless his kicking proved to be a fatal flaw.

Pou has huge upside, he is the youngest from that crop and he has a bit of size about him too.

Tsatas has the makings of an elite clearance player and accumulator, but it’s what happens when he gets the ball which will tell the tale.

He looks more like a Dylan Shiel type, great clearance player, great hands and breakaway from packs, kicking issues, probably a better mark and a bit tougher.

I’ve said for a few years that he looks like a faster version of parish. I stand by that. If he can get his kicking to parish’s, admittedly fairly average, level he’s an upgrade on parish. If he can do that and build a two way running game he’s a big upgrade.

It will be interesting to see them work together but my gut feel is he’d complement Caldwell and Durham better.

If we have a focus on development this year I wouldn’t mind seeing tsatas Caldwell and Durham used together a lot with parish Merrett and Hobbs/Perkins used as a bit of a B team

Tsatas is a lot better off the deck than Shiel who really relies on a handball receive or a clean tap

Totally different points in the action.

This is from th CJohns vid, kick to kick of a couple of steps (not on the run where the ball drop naturally goes higher).

This was pretty much Nathan Buckley at the top of his drop. As Smooth said, it’s what follows that matters.
