Definitely has limitations…but he’s a clearance machine
He had 4 tackles today and 31 touches, wonder what our other mids had, only Hobbs (6) and Kennedy (5) had more today it seems edit: may not be fully accurate as stats dude is still counting
Where are the stats for today?
Dont have twitter
How many seasons till we kill him
Can’t wait for the “Brad Scott tried playing Tsatas as an inside midfielder in his third season and discovered he was actually quite good at it” pieces next year
Hopefully this means that our recruitment team recognizes that the key skill that an AFL mid needs is clean hands off the deck
He played fwd in the last quarter btw as well. He pretty much had 27 plus touches in 3 qtr of footy.
Him and parish will be a nice combo. They can both average 25 plus this year I think.
Was good to see that after Merrett going off at half time and Caldwell at 3 quarter time we didn’t lose much in the midfield performance
We’re used to seeing first round picks arrive as well rounded players that contribute from day one.
Tsatas wasn’t that. There was injury and deficiencies to work on.
But there is still first round quality in this kid, and his attributes may well just make him a star. He monstered a second string Bulldogs midfield today. If he can catch up to the speed of opposition as they bring in their starting players, he changes our midfield.
Most importantly he has shown a willingness and ability to effectively correct imperfections in his game. This trait is what took Jobe to a brownlow medal
Got to remember too that Hirdy kicked a few floaters (that always seemed to go straight). Great game from the kid, he could be a super player…
Thanks, Charlie. What also stood out in that was the number of times Bryan got the ball to him.
Really stands out how consistently effective his handballing is. Very few that weren’t too advantage or hard to take in that lot
One thing Elijah is very gifted at is clean hands. He rarely fumbles. I still think also fans will see better kicking. Especially at Marvel and non windy days at the G. This is where I hope he can really impact games.
I hope in time he gets a bit selfish and holds the ball a bit longer and tries to run with it. Rather than the quick release which most of our players already do.
He did it a bit in juniors so I think he can get there.
I don’t want Tsatas to be a cog, I want him to be a match winner. Let the boy play and make mistakes.
I noticed that as well, slick and quick, at times it was Jobe like. I also like that he is building good rapport with our rucks at CBAs.
