Coming out of that 5 weeks, Port smacked us by ten goals and the Bulldogs beat us by 20 goals in consecutive weeks.

Something must’ve happened.

Rd 23 v Fark Carlton - 2016.

It was a thing of beauty.

The Gold Coast win was a sign that it was about to come crumbling down. They were a terrible side and we needed some magic from Walla and Stringer to get over the line.

Both 2013 FC games belong on the list

from memory round 2 2001 defeated of Port adelaide we were just relentless.

Round 13 2007 at Docklands against Melbourne in Neale Daniher’s last game as coach for them with Scott Lucas scoring the winner from the goalsquare in the final seconds of the game. The place went total apeshit when the final siren blew.

West Coast, Round 11 2007 at Telstra Dome. Hirdy and Scotty Lucas put on a clinic to drag us back into the game after being jumped by the reigning premiers. We held on to win by a point in front of a massive crowd. It was one of Hird’s last great games.

When was the game where Lucas swooped on a kick out of full back against Carlton?

2014, late season vs West Coast. Effectively an elimination final, came from six goals behind to ■■■■■■ it. Zaka the hero, again. It was a great win, and a great night at the footy.

Blitz seems to have forgotten round 3 of 2014 when we dished out a shellacking to FC.

Pretty sure Bomber Thompson fist pumped when one of theirs missed a straight forward set shot in junk time. Any win’s a good win but when you slaughter ■■■■ Carlton it’s even better.

While I’m at it, 2014 was a weird year. Some typical Essington wins and losses but also dished out some floggings to FC, the pies and Richmond. In fact, the Richmond match saw Alex Rance produce the most shocking turnover goal I’ve ever seen in person. Possibly ever. Ben Howlett liked it though, and you will too. Enjoy, blitzers:

Maybe a bit off point because I don’t know how to create a new thread. I’ve prepared a quick summary of our great club. Club historians may disagree. I divided our history into 7 stages. The eighth is yet to come but I’ve no doubt it will say SCOTT SACKED HIRD RETURNS

1. 2005-2025 ERA OF MEDIOCRITY, THE SAGA (21seasons )

2. 1979-2004 BABY BOMBERS, SUCCESS AND SHEEDY (26 seasons)

3. 1969-1978. ERA OF FAILURE, TUDDY, BECOMING PROFESSIONAL, ZONE DELIVERS. (10 seasons)

4. 1940-1968. GOLDEN ERA, KING RICHARD AND COLEMAN REIGN. (29 seasons)

5. 1925-1939. SCANDAL, THE DEPRESSION HITS. (15 seasons )

6. 1897-1924. THE SAME OLDS, FIRST FLAG, EAST MELBOURNE, WINDY HILL. (28 seasons)

7. 1872-1896. MC CRACKENS PADDOCK, VFA DOMINANCE. ( 25 seasons )

Marred by the Let’s Get Loud blaring after every one of our multiple early goals.

I’ll bypass era #5 since that was when my grandfather was on the selection committee for part of it. Wooden spoon included in 1933.

I seem to remember Winders playing as a goal square full forward in this one, and looking like a star, despite having back spasms at the same time.

Round 17 2014 va Collingwood

Heading into the game we were sitting in 10th and the Scum of Collingwood were in 6th. On a Sunday afternoon at the G we smashed them by 64 points - keeping them to just 5 goals for the match. Jake Carlisle announced himself as an AFL footballer that day with 26 touches, 19 marks of which 8 were contested and 4 goals which was enough for a key position player to ge the 3 Brownlow votes.

We jumped them on the ladder to end the round in 7th with a percentage of 110% which would be almost the highest we had had at any stage of a season since 2004, let alone after Round 17.

My memory is that he started in defence and was having no impact. Moved forward in the second-half and was brilliant, ended up with 3 goals and 19 touches.

What an incredible talent he was, such a shame his body let him down so often. One of my all-time favourite players.
