#7 Zerrett - could double his Crichton/Peter Crimmins by 2027

Roberts imo.

Completely nailed his mast to Midtable Brad, and it’s now dawned on him he’s backed a dud… has absolutely checked out, been obvious for weeks. But has he checked for good, or for the year?

Don’t blame him either way. We’re going nowhere during his time…

If Merrett has checked out, I don’t care whether people don’t blame him considering blah blah, ā– ā– ā– ā–  that, you’re the captain, you get spoken about like your god’s gift to the club, you’re on good money, do you’re ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  job or get out of here.

I don’t care whether you’re a first year player or the captain with over a decade of experience. You’re all professional football players earning hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. Do better.

I can’t decide if he’s checked out or if he and Scott are deliberately tanking. Every time he looks threatening he gets moved out of the midfield.

He’s a very very good player, he’s not elite, especially not against top 6 teams.

He’s done so much for the us but seriously if we could offload him for 2 first rounders I’d take it in a heart beat.

we aren’t winning a flag in Zachs reign. But if Draper and Merrett went and we had 5 first rounders or even 4 this year and 2 next, it will help us a lot seeing as though Dodoro isn’t selecting the picks and we have Bewick also in a few years.

time for the likes of Durham, Roberts, Caddy, Caldwell, all who play with an appetite, to take the club forwards and put their stamp on things

You’re 100% spot on.

We have to look deep into the future where we might actually contend for something that isn’t mediocrity. And sadly Merrett probably won’t be around by then or will be getting to the end of his football career.

If you can get good value and help us inject some extra young top end talent, that’s what we need. Really really badly.

can’t kick for ā– ā– ā– ā–

Merrett is too old for two first round picks unfortunately. Also unfortunately it is time to move him on, we owe him that

Like I said, Fabian Delph.

Nahh Christian Erikssen at Spurs

Zach I reckon is probably feeling the absences of some of our regular injured by now. And those would be Draper, Langford, Caldwell, Martin, Ridley and maybe DP3 .. teammates that in the past helped him work the space for him to do what he does well. He’s tagged nearly every week these days too, and apart from Duz, Duursma, Redman sometimes and Archie Roberts the load just gets to him, like nowadays. The likes of Caddy, Kako and Bryza have helped but those are still young guns.

Next year he’ll be back on song from R1 if we get a best 22 on the park. And I reckon he’s as loyal as the most loyal labrador to Essendon and still holds out a candle for the day we get a finals win. He wants us to get there, not in a Hawthorn, Doggies or Collingwood guernsey on.

He’s a bit of an old fashioned true blue Bomber .. a credit to himself and the club and Sheeds, Reynolds or Coleman would’ve absolutely loved him in their sides.

And I’m just enjoying and appreciating him whilst he’s here, with that No.7 on his back..

So now all you nut jobs want to get rid of Zac.

3x All Australian, 6x B&F, and of course he is an elite player, you guys would shoot Bambi

I wouldn’t get rid of him but I’d be having the conversation with him and would hope the club would help facilitate any move if he did want out.

Scott singled Zach out as the player whose morale is at its lowest. Not sure whether to read it as he wants out or that he is just so invested in the club that it’s killing him. Either way he deserves better.

People wanting him to go elsewhere and achieve success with what little time he has left in the game is shooting Bambi?!

I’m the same. If I was advising him, I’d tell him to go

For Essendon, his trade value is at the highest it’ll ever be. Say Cats offered two firsts for him. Would we do it?

So Zac, you’ve just repeated how much you love the club, thought it was time for a chat about your future. You’re devoted to high standards and getting us through the hard times. Anything we can do to help you leave- only if you want to, of course?

He’s playing like a guy who just wants the season to finish.

I suspect he’s 100% invested in Essendon but this has been a tough year. I certainly wouldn’t begrudge him wanting to finish his career elsewhere, but I don’t think he wants to.

People love their partners and still leave them. Sometimes love isn’t enough. Pretty clear to see from his body language the last few weeks that this is getting him.

Some people just aren’t interested in success though and Zac might fall into that category
