I remember Bomber Thompson saying that when he was coaching against Essendon he would tell Geelong players to smash us at every contest he knew that we were small and couldn’t handle physical contact.
It’s one of the first things he tried to address when he came to Essendon couldn’t believe how small our players were.

I have commented on this extensively elsewhere but you have to know this going in. Essendon will NOT accept anything less than 2 first round selections for Zach with one of them being a top 10. So a single compensation pick (Even if it is a top five pick) will not be sufficient. Any club, especially a Top 6 club wanting Zach will have to bring in a third club to manufacture the necessary 2 first rounders or give up their natural first rounder plus a player of high value.
This is exactly what Dodo will be doing he’s not going to settle for one compo pick he’ll be saying Merrett is worth more than one top 10 or top 10 pick plus player

Heath Shaw saying on his show that he doesn’t rate Merrett as highly as some Essendon fans do. Wouldn’t be unhappy if he left, get a couple good kids in. Can’t say I disagree
