#7 - Zerrett - New Beginnings

Not sure what’s worse, Zach running around in a Hawthorn or Carlton jumper :face_vomiting:

Whoever gives us those sweet, sweet picks I guess.

I’d hate Zach in a Hawks guernsey but I’d actually wish an injury on him if he ended up at Fark Carlton

An Essendon jumper is worse than both.

Duranted yet?

It’s an indictment on this team that a bloke that doesn’t want to be at the club is putting in more effort than those that do in the last few weeks. I want him gone and I thought there have been times this year where he had checked out but the last month or so he has been good.

I do wonder if the club will make an announcement during the week on his future or whether the last game of the season it will just be a low key exit for him

Like most, I was dirty on Zach, but given how he’s carried himself this year I actually wouldn’t mind the club acknowledging his last game in the red & black, if that’s what’s been agreed. Put a full stop on it and move on. No need to be bitter, he’s given a lot.

The downside is that it potentially weakens our leverage come trade negotiations (although maybe already a handshake agreement with the Hawks, who knows).

I can’t wait for him to get to Hawthorne, then round 1 next year he kicks a goal and grabs the jumper!!!

… then jumps into Mass’s arms to celebrate.

Merrett has been good since he has been back in the midfield. Watching games live, there has been a notable change in his demeanour.

Tin foil hat time but his form seems to have really lifted since I was told his management had been having amicable words with both parties

It’s not that far fetched, I’d believe it.

Yes, Merrett is “playing nice” to get what he wants at season’s end.

He’s still contracted, so you can’t announce his last game before trade period or you cook any small amount of leverage you have left. He’ll get his send off when he wins his 7th b&f.

Played his heart out with that nasty eye injury. Certainly not playing like a bloke who has quit

Zac copped a real shiner today. It really closed up his eye by the end of the game. When my son saw it after the game he said “ shitt dad what happened to him” and I told him one of his teammates did it. He asked why and I said because he loves Sam Mitchell, Hawthorn and Mrs Mitchell’s cooking. I did tell him I was only joking about his teammate doing it. He had a crack today.

Yeah all this talking down the media have done the last 6 months on oh Zack is not worth anywhere near as much now he is not as good blah blah blah…. Pigs a**** Zacky is still exceptional and worth every penny and high draft capital. The guy is doing all this and putting up these numbers with his heart in it maybe 30-40% this guy can win a Brownlow is he gets the sniff of a flag and I hope he does. He deserves to be a premiership player.

Much credit to Zach today. Worked his arse off for the team. As much as we know he’s going it’s obvious to him there’s talent in these youngsters. He clearly has no issue at all with the kids but he’d hate having to share more games with the Langfords, Redmans etc. They are total hacks
