Yes I am with you on that. I think pick 8 this year and their next two first rounders would have me happy to see us trade Zach. If Ned Reeves was in the conversation then take away one of those picks and I’d still be happy with the trade.

Didn’t that scab Morris say that Merrett needs to come out within 48-72 hours of the B&F and say publicly that he wants to be traded to Hawthorn? I expect he will request it through Morris tomorrow or, more likely, Monday. I think he’s holding off, hoping that the club will agree but I honestly don’t think it will happen, especially since we don’t seem to be attracting any other players.
I feel dirty to say it but sam Mitchell’s speech at their best and fairest was pretty good.
But they definitely think they should be playing and winning the flag I think they will pony up for merrett big time and I still honestly dont think their list is good enough and may even miss the finals next year especially with the sides around them gettung stronger.

Lot of talk from the hawks and Mitchell lately when they haven’t achieved anything.
Reality is their list has holes and they desperately need to win it in the next two years before it starts to fall apart. Barrass is already looking cooked. Gunston will never be as good as he just was. Their midfield will still struggle to win contest even if they add Merrett. Fact is they overachieved this year and we’ll see just how desperate they are to get Merrett.

In all seriousness, Hawks will offer #8 and their 2026 2nd for Merrett. We’ll say no. Merrett stays. Plays an average year, gets injured and plays ~15 games.
I’m hoping you’re right. Gunston especially has had an amazing year. Surely he can’t repeat that next year at 34. Even Merrett is due to slow down eventually.
