But catering has already factored in Zach + Partner’s attendance.

Has anyone thought about how this will impact catering?

We all know he will be traded. We all understand that the club needs to act like they won’t trade him.

ESSENDON BEING DIFFICULT TO DEAL WITH

A fluffy letter from the President makes everything better

If he does make it official, the stance from the club should be to put the onus on him and his manager to find something that satisfies the club. Set the bar so high so they have to do their best Circ de Solei impression to get it done. Rosa/Vozz should not lift a finger other that to say yes or no.
Always re-inforcing the notion that we’ll take you back Zac but it’ll be up to you to earn back the respect of the club.

Zac - this situation is all about you. Sort it out.

The club will still be here when you’re done. Time to get fkn serious, no matter what PR bullshit the destination club or manager try and pull to make us look bad.

EDIT - I should add the club should have no concerns about having a 30yr A grader sitting in the VFL. Cap space is not a concern so there should be little weight given to the wasted money argument. Zac’s presence or lack thereof will make very little difference to our overall position next year but it will set a fkn serious example to players when they consider shennanigans in the future.

Found it interesting in his segment on SEN that Tom Morris let a few things slip (intentionally I don’t know) but only two people knew about Zach’s meeting with Mitchell:
1 - Tom Morris
2 - Hawthorn’s media manager

He went further and suggested that Zach is considering ‘going public’ (how would he know this) if he needed to.
We’ve just fired out with Barham’s letter, so the next step I daresay will be the above^.

It’s sad that Zach will be defined by the way he’s tried to force his exit rather than his 12 years of excellent service.

We’re further from success after 3 years of Barham/Vozzo/Brad than when they started. Zach would’ve thought heading into year 4 and 5 that we’d be ready to contend. I’d guess that Draper’s defection has had a big impact on Zach as well. Not everybody on Blitz rates Draper, but I think he was in our top 5 most important players. His departure takes us further away from our goal (of not being ■■■■) and Merrett whose biological football clock is ticking would’ve felt it more than anyone.

So I can genuinely understand Merrett’s desire to go where success is possible rather than stay where it’s improbable. I’d even forgive him for searching for a way out if he didn’t go about like a complete ■■■■. He has chosen a horrible path and I don’t think the situation is salvageable.

I think he’ll be traded despite what the club has said, but we simply can’t cave once the pressure starts ramping up from Zach’s management, the media, and even the AFL. We can’t accept a ■■■■■■ deal under any circumstance. It’s time to play hardball and if that means keeping Zach out of spite, then so be it.

I suspect the point of the letter is to force that to take place.

That’s normally the guy that can’t get a game, never misses training and cuts the halftime oranges.:grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

It’s true, I’m struggling to deal with this club.

Isn’t the word on here that Morris and Merrett have a social relationship at least? (I hope so, because I’ve been replying to Morris’s tweet suggesting that :joy:).

The Barham email will absolutely force Merrett’s hand. He will absolutely not want to return to the club both from embarrassment but also, he will be demoted from captain.

Merrett will have to put himself on the line, demand the trade and hope like hell that Hawks can deliver what’s needed to get it done.

I can’t imagine hawks leaked it when they have a final to get into a prelim in the coming days…

Merrett camp leaked to put pressure on the club seems to be the most plausible

Is there a rat update?

■■■■ the hawks, i would be saying fine we we will trade you out, you can go anywhere but hawthorn

By all accounts Merrett is a) passionate and b) a deep thinker

If all of this has been leaked it would be at either his instigation or 100% with his approval. He wants out.

I’m just glad we’re ‘enduring’ Mr. President. So much ‘enduring’. The last quarter century farking ‘enduring’ some ■■■■ man. Zach looks at Hawthorn, wonders what ‘thriving’ feels like, and ‘winning’, not being ‘embarrassing’.

Get the farking trade done you mongs.
