#7 Zerrett in the beginning

True, but supporters of other clubs are idiots.

Daniher, Shiel, Merrett, Hurley, Smith, Hooker, Fantasia, Heppell, Stringer and Zaharakis are top 10 based on track record. Shiel > Zerrett > Smith

Not that there’s anything wrong with it. Lol.

That’s pretty much spot on.

I would just move Fantasia between Merrett and Hurley.

Not sure why you’d be ‘baffled’ - unless you baffle easily.
They are not miles apart in any direction. Why would someone else’s opinion on it baffle you?

JoeDan is the X factor for us. Sure we have managed to fill his space but we are a much better team and harder to beat when he is right and playing at his best. Could he be the difference between winning a flag or not winning it, certainly. We are building towards a flag and every little part adds to the motor of the team. We need everyone together in sync and a bit of luck.

Agreed, Joe would have more work put into him by the opposition than anyone else in our forwardline, this allows everyone else in our forwardline more space and freedom to work their magic.

And when the other names in that forwardline include Fantasia, Stringer, Walla and McKernan oppo coaches and defenders aren’t gonna be sleeping very well before, or after the game.

It is so exciting to dream about our forward line

I really believe that if Joe fires up we can beat anyone anywhere any time

It’s hard to choose and put in order but I think we need all Hooker and Hurley in defence, Merrett and Heppell in the middle and Fantasia and Daniher up forward to go the distance with anyone. Francis, Shiel, Smith, Zaka, and Stringer make it repeatable. Consistency to do it over and over needs a stable 18-20.

Tippa?

Essential for mine.

No, Merrett

Walla, your probably right.

Don’t underestimate the importance of McKenna and Saad, so important for both our defence and our attack

Edit: we also don’t have a lot of cover for them, McGrath probably the only one who is ‘like-for-like’

Some positive news on the injury front.

Essendon GM of Football Dan Richardson has provided an update on injured midfielder Zach Merrett.

The 23-year-old star suffered an ankle injury at training last week and has been in a moon boot since.

Richardson had some good news for Bombers fans saying the 2016 Best & Fairest is recovering faster than the club had hoped.

“He’s still in the moon boot, but he’s progressing quite well,” he told SEN Breakfast.

“Unfortunately, you get a couple of injuries at this time of the year as your intensity at training is really taking a step up and you have to do that to prepare players for the rigours of the season.

“Zach’s had a really strong body of work up until now so we’re confident that even though his training will be interrupted for a few weeks, he’s got a good grounding under his belt and it shouldn’t have too big an effect.

“Zach’s a pro so he may be out of the moon boot a bit sooner than we may have initially anticipated so that’s a good sign.”
