Not suggesting whether it’s a black mark or not, but I’m fairly confident we could all have guessed if asked whether we thought Winders would get injuries or not…

Two clubs seemed to want him pretty badly.
It’s weird he really hasn’t been spoken about since April or may. Poor bugger should have stayed retired
■■■■■■■ it Hirdy, wasn't divining future injuries part of your course in France?!Yep no doubt he will pull the plug this timeHe did last time. Hird talked him out of it.
A black mark against Hirdy.A black mark for you, Hirdy, a black mark for you.
Some of us called it at the time, so its hardly like you needed a crystal ball.

“Sorry Jason, we know you want to keep playing, and to be honest we’d love for you to keep playing, but some people on the internet know for a fact you will get injured, so we’ll have to let you go. Donate to the Flight Plan.”
It wasn’t just the likelihood he’d struggle to be fit and available. It was that his performances really dropped off last season. And that we only took 2 players in the whole ND. Talking him into staying just looked like such a bad idea, and a lot of people on here said so at the time.
Hird, Dodorro and the club got this one wrong.

You’re speaking with the benefit of hindsight. His performances didn’t “really drop off last season”. At the time, Winders had played some great games in defense and had the ability to turn games and spark the forward line. They thought if he could stay fit he would be a great weapon to have as we fought for a top four spot.
Alas, the sorry saga didn’t end, we were cursed with injuries and Winders got injured. Not much you can do about that when the alternative was keeping Aylett on the main list.
I personally prefer, all things considered, that he’s on our list not playing due to injury than having to go through the snarky media ■■■■ of him moving clubs. I don’t mind it as a PR move.
Are these guys(Fletch, Chappy, Winders)
Going to be allowed to play a farewell, perhaps our last home game V Richmond?

I’m positive Fletch will get a farewell game. As he should. Just stick him up forward and see if he can snag a few.
I reckon Chapman thinks he can play another season, so won’t announce his retirement and will try his luck in the draft. If he was going to retire i think he would of announced it already.
I reckon Winderlich will retire, but will choose to not play a retirement game, and give his spot to a youngster.
Feel sorry for the guy. He’s tried so hard to get fit and get into this club he so clearly adores but has been let down by injury time and time again. He was one who certainly cared.

Are you on meth? He played arguably the best footy he had in 5 years last year. He was very good in most games
quote, from bomber “its definitely unusual for someone in such good form to decide to retire”
Lmao everyone in the football world wanted Licha to go around again. I’m sure if it wasn’t for our draft restrictions we would have let him retire. However, that compounded by his form made us push hard for him to come back.
He was so important to many wins last year, from defence. Very short memories round here at times.
Yup.
He is one of the reasons the list was rated and expected higher than it has delivered.
His lack of presence has had a massive impact this year.

Interesting if you look back and had we got Bomber coach, who he would have looked to move on last year
- winderlich retired
- howlett posibly traded
- melksham possibly traded
- kav possibly gone.
- fletcher possibly retired
I’ve always been camp hird BTW, and thought he ws treated terribly at B&F
licha had a good year last. That doesn’t change the fact that he did tale off towards the end and was virtually anonymous in the elimination final. He decided to the pull the plug, he didn’t do that for no reason, it was the right call.
It’s such a shame really…we know that when this man is fit he is a top-shelf footballer
Look, Winderlich did not have a good year last year. After a good initial game, he was so bad in the forward line we had to move him to the backline. Sure, he played some good games there, in the easiest position on the field. The one where we have half a dozen options. Before tailing off a little again.
I’ve been a huge fan of Winderlich, and think his injuries have been a big contributor in us not progressing as far as we could have. In 2009 having him fit to play midfield was a big part of us making the finals. But last year was way down by his standards.
