Former #9 Brendon James Goddard

One of the 2 players on our list who actually played in a grand final, in fact more than 1 grand final and knows how important it is to keep your head but above all perform at key moments in a game, and like Kelly, when to impose themselves on the contest in that context.

3 on our list have played in a GF, you forgot Bird.

Really great game from BJ. Very clean, very hard at it, very accurate with his disposal.

Strange man though. He wanted Heppell to try a pass into the pocket rather than shoot for goal – when he must know that those passes never come off and if they do then the shot for goal misses anyway.

But he led from the front on Saturday and was instrumental in the win.

Loved BJ’s game… Like you say - very clean and accurate. How fantastic has he been for us, on and off the field.[quote=“Shelton10, post:1490, topic:449, full:true”]

He is still very talented with his hands in congestion - For me this is the sign that he is losing his reflexes and vision - His kicking will always be good, even when he is 50.

I thought he was massive in the first few minutes of the 4th quarter. His dominance of the centre at the beginning was instrumental in ensuring that Hawthorn didn’t get a lucky run and steal the game.

Wound back the clock on Saturday night that’s for sure.

Rumors of his demise have been greatly exaggerated!

All the naysayers about BJ, Stants, Baguley and Kelly had their gobs zipped.

The return of guys like Jobe and Hepps takes him out of the centre square and can play more of an outside role. It made a huge difference being that extra possession from the stoppage. His passing is first class, he hit Daniher on the chest with a 40m bullet in the 1st quarter. BJ can still be an effective linkman between the 50m arcs.

Great all round game from BJ- good in the contest with his clearance numbers and good on the spread with his number of marks.

Was a cool head down back for a bit too. You forget that you can plop him anywhere and he’ll give you 110% and be able to play the position, still think we’ll see a classic BJ hanger before the season is out.

Kick in the last from the back of square to green at chf which lead to JD goal was epic. Looking good in a good side is what he does best

in an average team where he has to play an inside roll he is a good player, not special.

In a good team where he can play a more outside game his is a very special player.

He is going to light it up this year!

Crichton Medal 2013. Good team. QED

BJ on RSN this morning.

Can a player from another club be any more Essendon than BJ? Love him.

He was awesome last year, hope we can repay him with a finals win before his career is over.
