#9 - Sullivan Robey - the weight of the club on his back

If Sean Murphy did the due diligence on him during the year, it wouldn’t surprise me if Robey’s got a busted back, 2 ruptured acl’s, chronic OP, a lisfranc injury, and is one head knock away from forced retirement…

No it’s not. If he slid, it was one spot, Richmond took Sam Grilj whose pace was viewed as a priority for their list build. All other picks were taken exactly where they were expected to go.

It’s the surgeon that’s away isn’t it, not EFC staff?

I imagine that’s what they did when he and a few of the other boys were at the facilities a few days before the draft.

No need to panic. If we stay injury free Brad wouldn’t pick him for another 4 years so he has plenty of time on his side.

Of course - as consumers they would be.

Are consumers of AFL football protected bt consumer law?

Absolutely not! The AwFL did not refund anyone’s $$$ when they cavalierly turfed us from the competition before the finals, and all their other depradations since then.

Back issue could be the reason why Richmond passed him.

First round draftee with an injury concern and Essendon draft him couldn’t name a more iconic pair haha

Robey’s living with McGrath isn’t he? Pando will fix him

Imagine not picking a player, a high end draft pick, that you want to play for your club for 12-15 years because he might have to have a few weeks deloading to ease off a back complaint in his first pre season.

Yeah, nah. Unfortunately, I don’t think Richmond would be that stupid or short sighted. They used a good pick last year on Taj Hotton coming off an ACL.

Richmond didn’t pick him because they wanted the other two more/suited their list build much better.

Our problems seem to have been more with the 200cm types.

Robey is just a really big mid - he’ll be fine.

This kid could be a dusty type, or he might even end up being a Lloyd, big bodied full forward

Or he could be perpetually injured, the Essendon way.

Lets give it awhile.

Do you think we inquired and he said his back is cooked but we chose him anyway?

You are overthinking things.

Not sure he plays much like Martin.

If he’s got a style after a top afl great, I’d say he could evolve like Petracca.

According to some vanilla panic merchants on BBlitz, poor young Sullivan Robey is a dead man walking.
(Lyrics borrowed freely from Solomon Grundy.)

Played on a Monday,
Hyped on Tuesday,
Drafted on Wednesday,
Injured on Thursday,
Grew worse on Friday,
Died on Saturday,
Buried on Sunday.
That was the end,
Of Sullivan Robey.
