Sharp’s contract extension interview implied Robey will extend soon as well…

He’s really been the highlight of a lowly year.
When i look back to his first VFL return where he couldn’t get near it to finishing the year as our arguably highest impact inside mid…off the back of no pre season, he’s been outstanding.
I’ve go no doubt the club would be working out how to get his outside game and goal kicking into play more. Good field kick and good goal kick.
Personally i just love his attack on the footy and tackling. He’s such a non Essendon looking player and i say that as the greatest compliment.

His clearance production relative to opportunity is unbelievable. Robey is 3.7 from only 32.7% CBA exposure. Finn O’Sullivan gets 68.7% CBA for 3.4 clearances; Jagga 52.9% for 4.3.
As his CBA increases he could be the best, but is a great chance to become elite .
Robey has 9 goals in 15 games, vs Jagga (7), Finn (5), Sharp (3) and Addinsall (2) showing the mid/forward scoring dimension that made him such an unusual draft prospect.
Robey and Sharp are without question our most important draftees is decades

Fair call. Remember watching the first half and he looked all at sea. Most of us were pretty ok about it all because he’d had no pre-season. It was very surprising how quickly he found his feet thereafter though. He seemed to almost immediately become a top 5 most important player on gameday in the seniors. By the time he got injured, him and Sharp both proved themselves elite at the coalface. His transition from injury to feature player was pretty stunning to watch.

It’s quite clear he reads the ruck tap quite well. What sets him apart from our other mids though is that he has an enormous frame and pretty decent agility which combined make him very difficult to block and contain to prevent him getting access to the drop zone. Jobe like but with breakaway speed and a very penetrating kick.
I can’t believe he’s ours.
He almost makes think it doesn’t matter who the next coach is

Playing the bulk of his Jnr footy as a 170’scm midget - he has a ground ball ability that is extremely unique.
Not many 190cm+ mids that can win ground balls like Robey can. Given his age and size his upside is absolutely massive.
I would offer the bloke a huge 5 year deal front loaded today

Gotta disagree with you on him reading the tap, to be honest. He’s ok at it without being exceptional. I think he’s just an absolute bull and a monster when it comes to securing those ground ball gets. Spot on with the rest of it, though. He’s lowkey got serious speed, huge power, and is amazing in the air. That Jobe comparison with the breakaway pace and penetrating kick is bang on.
Only 19 by the way.

I remember thinking the same, didn’t think we’d see him in the seniors for a few more weeks then whammo! Much like his rise last year in the draft I guess, once he got going he gathered momentum fast.

Game 2 in the VFL was more reflective of the player he can become - a lazy 22 posies and 4 goals.
