Have a look at the VFL televised game today from Willy. They couldn’t even have the cameras on the scaffolding.

The wind was that bad at the willi / sandy game that the ball went miles when kicked with the wind and barely got 10 metres against it. The umps had trouble throwing the ball in from the boundary ,too.
Sandy didn`t even kick one goal., only 9 points. Lowest ever score for them and first time they have never kicked a a goal in a game.

Glorious fog over Melbourne.

He’s sky writing the next “don’t make plans” thread?

might get home early this arvo and batten down the hatches.

DAMAGING winds, rain and even hail are set to batter Victoria with gusts of up to 100km/h expected to hit the metropolitan area this afternoon.

A severe weather warning for damaging winds with peak gusts of between 90km/h to 100km/h has been issued by the Bureau of Meteorology.

“It’s going to start sunny and clear but then the winds and cloud will start from the afternoon,” duty forecaster Tom Delamotte said.

“The winds are going to steadily increase from this morning and it will get pretty squally.”

It was “definitely possible” for some of the strongest gusts to hit the Melbourne metro area, the forecaster said.

There was also the chance of thunderstorms, rain and hail to hit the state as a cold front moved across this evening.

“It’s likely to be the late afternoon when we may get showers, thunderstorms and even hail but the winds will be easing at that time,” Mr Delamotte said.

Commuters are advised to be aware of the conditions, particularly if they are driving.

The SES has advised people to move their vehicles under cover or away from trees, secure any loose items outside including balconies and keep clear of any fallen power lines.

Beautiful sunshine up here in the northwest.

Edit: sun now somewhat obscured by the dull yellow of topsoil from the farms being sent skyward by a phenomenal wind.
