I’m conflicted. So far we have been WLWLW. If we win tonight we stuff up a certain ANZAC Day victory.

I prefer to think of it as this pattern. Sure, we lose ANZAC day, but we win the flag :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

WLWLWWLWWLWWWLWWWLWWWWL (finals)
WWWW (flag)

I’m not sure why the odds / commentators are so negative on our chances. Rankine and Walker went nuts against Carlton. Our mids + McKay should be good enough to cover them.

I just had a quick look at Crows Bigfooty. 99% of the posts are ‘Nicks is useless’/‘Sholl is a spud’. What little analysis there is, is pretty negative, eg:

“Reckon we will lose this. I feel the club will be pretty content and relieved to get the win. Nicks reckons we’ve now got momentum after one win.

In reality: We won kicking unbelievably accurately; Carlton copped 2 injuries; Carlton would have won had they kicked a little bit more accurately; Carlton should have won had Owies not kicked the ground; Even in front with seconds left the ball was deep in their forward line.

This week: No Crouch; Rankine and Soligo dominating won’t take Essendon by surpise; Essendon have a strong midfield and move the ball quickly; Only played here 2 weeks ago and will want redemption; We struggle against them.”

“Too many weak links. Maybe Walker and Rankine can play out of their skins again and haul us across the line…? Which presumably is the plan. Not sure it’s the most sustainable way to build a winning line up though."

Provided our rucks perform, our mids and forwards should be too good. Bombers by 24.

I’d take a fighting loss tonight if it meant we gave the pies a a whooping on Anzac Day. Actually a heartbreaking loss after the siren would be really nice.

Rankine did an interview during the week, and said that they want to become a team that fights to get a win after a loss the week before.

I can only assume he meant that they don’t want to fight for a win following a previous week’s win.

We have been favourite only in one game this year v hawks so we must be playing above ourselves

They’re not all that enamored with Ned McHenry either

Im confident, and that terrifies me.

You would hope not after the port debacle eh?

Win tonight and win ANZAC Day.
Asking too much?

No.

I think we are a huge chance for this

After a stirring win last week, I’m expecting a limp performance tonight.

Nice theory, although that pattern would see us finishing top 4 and only needed to win 3 finals to win the flag.
So I guess we win round 1 next year when we unfurl #17.

Nothing less than a half mongrel performance will appease me.

The optimism in here is sickening.

Im expecting some absolute jobber like Lachie Murphy to kick a bag of 5 or 6 in a 10 goal win
