Adrian Dodoro - Flankers into Mids since 2000 (Part 2)

So where does it say that Dodoro was against the trade or not balls deep into everything but the final handshake? It clearly states it was all about Dodo until the last minutes. It reconfirms the other rumours that Dodo is a flog to deal with and GWS simply wanted him out of the room.

Nice way of putting it

ā€œResponsible forā€.

He wasnā€™t in the room, Richardson signed it, you are wrong on this.

He was still responsible for getting it to that point as it clear as day states in the article. You still havenā€™t shown anything to support the idea that the outcome was against his wishes.

Of course he was right amongst it butā€¦:

Dodoro supposedly only wanted to offer pick 9 and a future 2nd

And against the 2 firsts. Which is why it dragged on.

Richardson it seems made the call at the death to ok that happening.

ā€¦.

He quite literally walked away from the deal.

It doesnā€™t get much more categorical.

No he did not. It doesnā€™t say that at all. It says he was out of the room for the final handshake ā€œpacing the hallsā€ and mentions previous tension between him and McCartney. I read that as they needed to get him out of the room again because heā€™s a flog to deal with who wastes peopleā€™s time. The article then indicates he was thete for the actual singing before celebrating. Again nothing in the article supports the position that the outcome was against his wishes.

Iā€™m not interested in what ā€œyou readā€.

This to me seems like what GWS were trying to get was two firsts alone for him, and were saying going to keep him if didnā€™t receive. Which was unreasonable but their right to try.

Perhaps that was also the McCartney vs Dodoro egos unable to get it done. In this instance McCartney actually being a kent (still dirty on Stringer scenario perhaps) and probably also looking to do the best he could in his first trade period for GWS.

Richardson perhaps then able to get GWS to finally settle on sending a 2nd back if that only became an offer extremely late as Dodoro stated.

Yes GWS wouldā€™ve had a hard sell to lose Shiel, after trading Scully and co to be able to keep him.

And his dad played for the Bombers, should have been under our noses.

Missed him because he wasnā€™t a bloodnutā€¦and Jack would have struggled to have played 20 games with us.

And probably suspended for 10.

Someone needed to do it! Yes, Iā€™m in the minority as a Dodo fan. Thatā€™s cool, weā€™re all entitled to our views and rationale. The ā€˜proā€™ Dodo camp largely argue we have the talent and the pipeline of talent to ensure a successful list build (and have had in iterations past), conditional on the club providing the high performance environment (culture / stability) necessary to develop talent successfully and ensure theyā€™re fit and injury free to facilitate successful player development. To this end, the clubs failure to deliver this has prevented the talent from ultimately delivering success and led to countless starts, resets and restarts. This confirmed in the external review.

So itā€™s good to see signs the club is now providing a high performance environment in so far as weā€™re now seeing signs the talent is being developed and the culture / stability of the footy department and environment appears on a much better path. Now itā€™s the fitness and conditioning area that needs the focus to ensure this strong list of talent is converted into a successful team that delivers finals success. As it almost certainly will if the club can deliver the off field environment required.

In the VFL they have an obvious talent in Lewis Hayes. A rough diamond full of potential in Voss and a ready made defender whoā€™s AFL ready in Montgomerie. With Reid, Cox, Jones and Tsatas of enormous potential enhancing the spine. I can see a scenario where Essendon is possibly a big bodied physical midfielder trade away from forming a team certainly capable of making top 4. Yes thereā€™s other possible holes however we have time to crystallise our remaining list needs over the next 18 months.

So from here, onus is squarely on club to get fitness & conditioning right. If it can, closing list gaps via trading is the next focus as we have an exciting 3 years ahead of us.

HI DODORO, HI

I just love how Dododo is supposedly a marvel, because he can find c grade players anywhere in the draftā€¦ā€¦ and this is somehow proof that heā€™s the best we could ask for.

And when I say he can find C grade players anywhere, in any draftā€¦ā€¦ Iā€™m also talking about the first round.

This is exactly the reason weā€™ve been a bog average team for 20 years.

The article should put a poll out for fans and ask if you had the same List Manager for 14 years without winning a final, what should happen to that List Manager??
