We have a list full of role players.
I don’t know how far that gets you in September.

Yes, if you fix development, fitness, standards results then can come. I’m not against Dodoro moving on, I’m just strongly of the belief competent list management wasn’t possible the last 15 years.
I think this list is capable of winning finals. It requires ongoing development and successfully getting the likes of Ridley and Reid etc training and playing so they can develop.
We agree to disagree, we all have different views. Even if they get the club running well across all aspects, I still might be wrong. But I believe in the talent of Reid, Ridley, Jones, Draper, Durham as well as what I’ve seen in Tsatas (kicking WIP), Caddy and even Bryan to give confidence the growth and success is there.
I hope they remain stable, stay on course, get the club going really well and then seeing what’s possible. I think there’s finals success in the group with a few further inclusions to fill ‘needs’ but essentially it’s nearly there.
Wait and see. Fingers crossed they don’t implode again as a club.
Scott has already impacted our recruiting
Look at this cultist!
cough Sam Durham . Sorry I had to

Yep, sorry.
Only took 18 years of butchering the main draft to find a gem in a mid season draft
I prefer to take the view of what have you done for me lately.
Lately he seems to have assembled a list of players which is growing with lots of upside.
He still has to improve certain positions and depth but he seems to be doing ok now.
You can be ■■■■■■ at him for his initial 15 years but that’s in the past so ■■■■■■■■ about it isn’t going to change anything.
The last 5-6 years he seems to have done his job well overall. Even though there have still been some missteps like not trading Daniher earlier for an extra 1st rounder. Even with that it’s possible that he would of been overruled by management.
If we win a grand final or two over the next 5-10 years I’ll take that. It is at least now a possibility.
To be clear, are we saying that players like Hurley, Hooker, Stanton and others weren’t A graders? What is our definition of an A grader then?
But was it our fitness and development that meant that none of Myers, Clarke, Mutch, Kavanagh (and others, e.g. NOB) stepped up? None would have replaced Watson on a quality level, but arguably some like Clarke could have been filling a role if (say) Scott had been coach then instead of others. Would Scott have Clarke filling a role (or Mutch with a better fitness team) that Caldwell or Durham are filling now?
A graders are players like Jobe Watson, Merrett, Dustin Martin, Fyfe, Buddy, Petrecca the very top players in the comp Hurley hooker and stants were b grade players in that they were the best at the club but not the best in the competition
If that is the definition, how many teams in the league have even 3-4 across a 20 year period?
just get an elite small forward this off seaon and some will be forgiven
I can’t be bothered sitting down and working that out but it’s clear to the eye we have had two and that’s Jobe who was father son and Merrett
No.
we all loved hurls and hooker, but neither are legitimate a-graders, all had the occasional good season and worked their arses off for the club, but they weren’t that next tier up
I think multiple AA’s puts you in a A grade category
I’m with you. I still think we have far too many inside mids and not enough quality small forwards.
I think the 2014/15 finals campaigns of north melbourne are probably a relevant data point, all things considered. You can definitely win finals, but playing a rested good team in good form in a prelim is probably a bridge too far.
So it is partly team and injury status based?
