they put games on 7 mate into w.a, even freos final so it didn’t interrupt the news
they only put one or two games per year (finals with local teams) onto the 7main channel in Sydney and Brisbane (you might not think this is a big deal, but it reduces the viewers by anywhere between 25 to 50 percent putting them on a secondary channel, so much for ‘loving their footy’ and ‘growing the game’). 9 even put NRL on the main channel for all finals and it barely rates at all in Melbourne. 9 promote their contracted sports in foreign areas, 7 don’t, they almost treat it like it’s an inconvenience.
they reduce out crowd noise and turn up the volume on the commentators in preference. You can literally watch a game with 90k and unless a goal is kicked it sounds like the stadium is near on empty. Give us some atmosphere ffs.
It’s funny you say that i have a few mates in QLD that love their throwball and they are always whinging about channel 9’s coverage. I remind them at least 9 uses microphones to pick up crowd noise, they even have two blokes following the play with big furry mic’s on the sidelines to pick up extra noise. It kinda explains why an nrl game with a 10k crowd sounds like it has a bigger crowd than a Collingwood v Carlton game at the mcg on ch7. I think overall fox does both sports better but i agree 9 does much better than 7 with production.
Doesn’t really matter what system you want to talk about, both clubs fell from the sky on the back of ordinary years and simply caught everyone on the hop.
Young teams, big heads, and everyone’s got till Christmas and then some to put work into them and get better, as you’d expect from most developing teams.
Same with Carlton.
Even truck said he expected us to go back. I don’t think you can necessarily say with outright confidence Collingwood are on any sort of even keel trajectory.
My tongue was in my cheek cause the one thing with Collingwood is at least when the chips are down they will play for their coach, but don’t be surprised if they miss finals next year.
