I like the State of Origin as it’s pretty cool seeing the best of the best lining up with and against each other.
But geez I’m worried this will be a very one sided affair looking at these teams.
This game is not going to be close
Hopefully WA are more up for it than the Vics because that’s the only way I can see it being a decent watch.
Vics forward line is full of midfielders, if WA can get it forward they’ll be able to score, it’s a fun forward line they have picked.
Given it’s scheduled 5 weeks before the H&A season starts, and what a week or two prior to club practice games, I suspect it’s going to be played like an exhibition game.
Bruise free, high scoring, end to end.
Hope WA start with Jackson, Cripps, Warner and Kozzie in the middle, Vics with Gawn, Bont, Daicos and Rowell
Fun!
I just want to see Zach and Mitchell share hug and smile for the blitz melt!
I reckon with a big build up in the days before hand with plenty of press, plenty of old legends of both states being brought in to add plenty of Ra Ra Ra and bring historical significance to it about what it means to represent the state etc it’ll translate to the players being fair dinkum once the ball bounces.
And never underestimate what ego does. All of the best players tend to have an ego about them which means they’ll take pride in wanting to play good footy alongside the other guns of the comp.
Man, just make it east vs west.
There’s no rivalry, so just give us the best.
WA/SA/NT vs TAS/Vic/NSW/Qld
The only thing that stands out to me is Dangerfield.
Surely there’s a better selection than him.
But Vic by ten goals.
Please no, this just neutralises any passion for the game.
Who do you want to do a lap of honour for this game?
This is not what it was.
It has no more relevance than a country vs city game.
The battle was waged. We won. It’s over.
This is an exhibition game, played before anyone is even fit.
Just give me the best players.
East vs West.
Or AA1 vs AA2.
I want quality.
I don’t want see the best CHF not lining up with the best FF because one of them was born in NSW, or Qld, or SA.
Where’s Dawson!?!
Where’s friggin’ Wanganeen-Milera?
At least there’s no EFC players to do a season-ending injury*
*Snakes not included
You want the Allies. The most insipid, lifeless bunch of punching bags seen at Docklands. The thing that makes Origin shine is some passion with the quality. Get Skilton, Daicos snr and Brereton in the rooms and let them rip.
If I thought that would ever happen again, I’d be on your team.
I don’t, so I’m not.
And to me the next best thing is seeing the best 44 positional players against each other.
Call it what you like.
Can’t wait to see you holding the banner Wim
“Let’s go Sleeves Up
Do it for superior air circulation”
If you’re suggesting shirts vs skins, I think that would probably increase the interest in a certain demographic.
Perhaps two.
I’m looking forward to this game, but these concepts only work if they’re competitive and that WA side is absolute garbage. Well the midfield anyway. Hopefully this gives a wake up call to WA footy who have been really going backwards lately producing near to no high level talent.
O’Meara and Coniglio are rubbish, I too would be just going with Kozzie, Bolton and Jackson as the mids to add to Cameron Warner and Cripps, otherwise they’ll get thrashed.
One hope is, the WA players are mostly from lower teams, so they would have started pre season earlier and they’ll also go harder than the Vics with state pride being more important to them.
I actually think it would be really good as a state carnival if Victoria wasn’t involved, WA, SA, NSW and QLD (who will be great in 5 years) are all pretty evenly matched and would be great contests.
Any one going to watch this thing?
Victoria are going to fist WA
Fk State of Origin and fk all the players involved.
