AFL - Terrible Ideas, Too Many Ideas, No Idea…

What if, . hit’s post goes through for a G or a B, it’s a G or a B, … BUT, … IF it comes back into play, … it’s already a B, … and can still yet B a B or a G, … allowing for a 7 point result from an attack on G?

Saves a crap load of time on Review shitte, and adds that extra element of excitement.

Fk, it, … make it 3 Points if it hits and comes back,& make it a possible 9 POINT PLAY!!

How are ruckman going with it?
I’d assume there’d be less need for a backup ruckman.

Most sides still have a backup.
It’s only a free for kicks and handballs that are directly out and all others still have a throw in

Pretty sure we’ve established that rule changes aimed at reducing congestion don’t fix anything. Why does it matter that the game is played differently compared to 20 years ago?

The best thing they could do for the “spectacle” would be to simply focus on consistently interpreting the rules that currently exist.

Anyone else forsee general admin tickets sky rocketing next year to cover the costs of all the hubs?

There’s been a lot of talk of talking up how to make the game more exciting. Gill and his mates are full of what they think are “good ideas” for the game.

How about, the AFL leave the game alone? The game itself is fine. Its all these whacko’s who want to become AFL hero’s not wearing a jumper, who are the real problem.

Then again, when you look at the AFL House wages bill which is in the countless millions, they not only need to trim their waist lines but also cut back on surplus staff, many of whom, I’m sure sit around picking their noses, thinking about, what can we change next? Here’s a new thought, have a monotorium on NOT changing a damn thing for the next twelve months after the virus simmers down and the clubs all go back to their own states. Do nothing, except look at what makes the game more complex and unnecessary and; cut out the dead wood @ AFL House.

AFL games in the majority of instances are virtually unwatchable - over congested rolling mauls.

And shorter quarters means the players are fresher so the congestion lasts longer.

WA officially close borders to anyone who has been in Victoria. Looks like we can rule out any WA vs Vic team unless they spend 2 weeks in another state hub.

Will be interesting to see how they work this out after the 35day hub atm.

Which means all teams when finished in Qld could head West, and vicky verka.

Rumours saying

  • 8-12 in 32 days
  • Vic clubs back home by mid August
  • Vic clubs to play each other while interstate clubs can fly around as normal to SA, NSW and QLD
  • Vic clubs to go back to hubs to finish season

Can’t see older players with families doin that again like Riewoldt.

Jeepers.

That seems fair enough from the players

Perth media going ape droppings at the prospect of the Grand Final being held here. They’re offering to host the Melbourne Cup too. Apparently the Philip Island penguin parade is also under consideration for a move to Rotto…

They’re being too keen, I hope spotless gets the granny

The way we’re going with the virus, we could end up playing the game in China.

Forgive my density, but how does this help?

Even if players\clubs are allowed to sign contracts, they still don’t know what list sizes\salary caps will be, so they wouldn’t be able to figure out how much $ they can afford, or even if there will be space on the list for the player.

It’ll basically protect top end talent. The clubs would have some idea, even if not fully locked in yet.

In the current uncertain environment, some players might take less money for a guaranteed contract. If everything completely blows up, no one gets a cent anyway.

Ah, ok. IMO we’ve got 6 or so best22 players (+ probably a couple more we’d be silly to not re-sign as depth) whose contracts are up at the end of 2020. It would be sensible to lock them in now. The thing is, I’m not sure they’d need to sign for less $. If we don’t give them what they want, they’d be walk up starts to most other clubs who would give them what they want.

IMO it would be the players we’re less certain of who might sign for less $ in return for security. The thing is, with potentially shrinking list sizes, we’re not sure if we’ll have space for them (or how much we can pay them,) so they’ll likely get left til last anyway.

A player could stipulate he gets x percent of the cap, whatever it is, and get the best possible result that way.

Must be costing the AFL a small fortune to pay for accommodation etc for the players and their families.
