‘You will resign, we’ll be making sure that happens.’
Joel is my nomination to take Lindsay Tanner’s place

Yeah bit of yawn fest atm. Until we see details and something actually happens it is just bluster.
Nice to see the MSM jump all over Wilkinson’s story and run with it… oh wait…
Not gonna risk that AFL accreditation
Another negotiated outcome
Ridiculous that the AFL hadn’t actually figured out what the penalties would be for breaching the rules before implementing said rules. Also ridiculous that the AFL is taking advice from a club president.
I also though Eddie would have learnt his lesson. After the initial covid breaches (from non-Collingwood clubs,) Eddie was saying players should be suspended for the rest of the season and cop a $100k fine. Then Dunn and Sidebottom breached, and Eddie was suspiciously less adamant about them being suspended for the rest of the season. Now we have WAGs (of non-Collingwood clubs) breaching the restrictions and again Eddie is again saying what he thinks the punishments should be…
Eddie doesn’t learn. He’s the one of the most stubborn people going around
They should get him in a room with Woosha. Woosha is all about the learnings (though somehow still remains stubborn.)
Stubborn about not being stubborn. That’s Woosh
Of all the stupid things the AFL have done, I reckon tonight’s double header of games has to be right up there:
Fark Carlton v Hawthorn - 5:40PM EST from Optus Stadium (3:40PM WST)
Essendon v Brisbane - 8:10PM EST from Metricon Stadium
The NBA do the double header games a lot, but always the East Coast game is played before the West Coast game. Wouldn’t it make more sense if our game started at 5:40PM, and then the Blues v Hawks match starts at 8:10PM (6:10PM WST)?
Yeah makes ■■■■ all sense to have the Perth game 1st
We got a Fark Carlton lover here, it seems.
Maybe that’s the only time the stadium was available?
Having the WA game earlier means they save electricity costs with the lighting. Beautiful sunny day in Perth right now.
Except when you realise 7 wants the highest drawing game for their Prime Friday Night slot of course.
Egggzachary
The seconds/reserves game is always on early.
The late game would be well past the bedtime for most of the Hawthorn players too
The Hawthorn VS Carlton game was switched at the last minute from Thursday at the request of the clubs -Think the timing has worked out fine - Decent crowd and day time gives better conditions.
I can’t actually believe Whateley is sticking the boots in here, but it’s warranted
No such this as being a journalist in AFL accredited media, the correct term is puppet or sycophant
Veteran footy reporter Gerard Whateley has slammed the AFL for a “betrayal of journalism” after they stood down AFL Media journalist Mitch Cleary.
Whateley has speculated on what happened behind the scenes leading to Cleary being suspended indefinitely for sharing a public Instagram post from Brooke Cotchin - the wife of Tigers two-time premiership captain Trent.
The Cotchins have offered to pay the $20,000 fine the club copped because Brooke was sprung breaking the AFL’s strict biosecurity protocols by attending a day spa on the Gold Coast.
Brooke was caught because she posted about the visit on social media, which caught the attention of AFL officials.
Cleary shared on Twitter a screenshot of Brooke’s post and was stood down, despite the news being broken 24 hours earlier by Caroline Wilson and several media organisations sharing the photo.
The AFL media has long claimed its reporting is independence of the governing body.

“There’s a couple of layers to this. There’s no understating the tension that has existed between the three parties in this – the Cotchins, Richmond and the AFL,” Whateley said on SEN.
“Part of the resolution was that the family would not be named, not withstanding Brooke Cotchin had published her own material in the public domain.
“It had been mentioned previously on radio and then Mitch Cleary put it out there.
“I think there’s every reason behind the scenes that prompted a level of fury and the AFL flinched.
“If I was a workplace lawyer the question I would be focusing on is did Cleary think he was a journalist or did he think he was an employee of the AFL.

“If he thought the initial, then he’s been desperately undermined and treated incredibly poorly.
“If it was always made clear to him that he was an employee of the AFL rather than a journalist then I don’t believe he would have taken the job.”
The decision to stand down Cleary triggered fierce backlash in the football world with plenty calling for him to be immediately reinstated.
Former AFL Media head of content Matt Pinkney refuted claims of conflict of interest within his organisation years ago, saying AFL Media was a “credible news source”:
“Yes, we get a bit of misinformation put out there by our rivals but that’s OK,” Pinkey said.
“I hope people will see in time that we can be trusted as a credible news source. That’s our aim over the next few years.”

Whateley suggested the Cleary incident proves AFL Media has a long way to go before they’re considered credible.
“The AFL standing down Mitch Cleary is a betrayal of journalism and it is an exposing moment and I would think it’s an unnerving moment if you worked at AFL Media and you believed that you were working as a journalist rather than as an employee of the AFL,” Whateley said.
“You always have to know who you’re working for, but usually when you’re a journalist it comes without interference.
“That’s just a straight out betrayal of journalism.”
Collingwood president Eddie McGuire agreed and said the blunder will prove a significant setback for AFL Media.
“They have no problem telling us they’re independent when they’re shredding players, clubs and officials,” McGuire said on Triple M.
“This is going to have some ramifications down the track on what the AFL Media department is all about.”
