If the club (and only they will know) doesn’t believe that Francis can ever get himself up to an elite AFL fitness level, which requires for those without a natural high aerobic capacity a super strong mental application & resolve then you’d back their decision to trade him whilst still has currency.
Many don’t actually make it at AFL level for a multitude of reasons but are still very talented footballers. Many don’t make it in all forms of elite sports despite potential. It’s just one part of it.
If he stays I hope he can realize his potential which is immense. If he goes with the club agreeing to it & gaining something of worth in return so be it.
Definitely will be a shame if he gets past his troubles with family loss and becomes a star elsewhere. But if it’s out Francis & in Stringer via crows 16/18? I don’t think many will be too upset.
