AFLW 2024 - non-Essendon matches and snippets

NEW RECORD.

Houghton down (left knee?!?) on the final siren.

She’s up but proppy.

Good to see her get up and signal she’s fine.

These bulldogs are the worst side to have played in the AFLW.

Dogs have the two lowest scores (9 and 6) in the first ten games of the season. Next worst is 20.

Lauren Pearce out for ~7 games with a scaphoid injury. That will include the game versus us.

Can’t wait for the season to be longer. Sucks when players are out for one or two months, it ends up being majority of the season.

No shoot-out for you!

At halftime it’s the Bears 2.0.12 to the Dees 0.3.3

It took until one minute before three-quarter-time, but the Dees goal.

Was Pisano on debut, who told the Hawks to get nicked after speculation she’d be claimed by them pre-draft.

1.3.9 still trailing 3.3.21 at the final break.

That’s some kick by Davidson.

We might meet Melbourne when they are 0-4… hopefully we won’t be that too!

(They have Norf next, then Freo in Freo.)

Bates (calf) a late out for the Hawks.

Go Pies?

Pies have kicked the last two goals to keep things interesting.

They trail 16-21

Nek minute: 25-70

Giants have 800% wtf

They beat WB 72-9 last week.

And our % is a measly 69.7% lols

But the win came at a cost, with potentially serious injuries suffered by star recruit Casey Sherriff (ankle) and key forward Aine McDonagh (shoulder) in the space of a few minutes in the fourth term.

Aine is repeatedly frail.

She played against us twice in VFLW 2023, and both times got broken.

Ally Anderson starred in the engine room with a career-best 42 disposals, matching the mark set by North Melbourne midfielder Ash Riddell in 2022.

That included 22 contested possessions and 600m gained.

ONE OF US (albeit only for a brief moment).

Multiply by 1.5 for AFLM comparison.

EDIT: stats have been revised; Ally now listed with 43 and hence holds the new AFLW record.

Port captain Janelle Cuthbertson’s injury has been confirmed as an ACL.

Cuthbertson was reduced to playing just six matches in 2023 due to a fractured eye socket, just five games in season seven, 2022, and just four games in season six, 2022, with a broken jaw.

GWS live-ladder down 598% at half time. The Tiggers couldn’t beat the universally-agreed wooden-spooners, but easily lead the Giants.
