AFLW - Round 10 vs Bears @ Windy Hill 1pm Sunday 19 October 2025

How many losses in a row is that now after starting the season 3-0 8 or 9?

No coach survives that needs to be sacked

  • Top six players are fifty-something disposal efficiency… vanDyke will save us?
  • Nanscawen spent some time forward and therefore tied Toogood for score involvements (it wasn’t a big number). That kick to Prespakis was genius.
  • Prespakis tops our kicks and handballs.
  • Gaylor (defender today) was our equal-best for marks with Clarke (and game-high for contested marks), and had TWICE as many intercept possessions as second-placed Clarke (was top across both teams). Clarke and Busch topped the rebound fifties, though.
  • Gaylor 403m gained, with only Prespakis also ahead of 300.
  • Cain was a hardarse: 8 tackles.
  • Nanscawen 6 clearances, and MORCS had 5 (and topped our centre clearances). Alex confirmed that she did take 100 games to line up back, mid, AND forward in a game.
  • MORCS ended up with very similar stats to (main?) opponent Cathy Svarc.
  • A common group topping the contested possessions: Nanscawen, gap, Prespakis, Toogood/Gaylor/Cain.
  • Prespakis again top of the uncontested possessions, with Busch slipping in behind her.
  • Contested and uncontested possession splits often seem weird…
  • Toogood the only player to be out there >90% of the time. vanDyke looked OK at times (and from me that is a notable compliment), but it was a limited 43%.
  • I know we have almost no choice in the squads we name, but the likes of Brown and Gamble continuing to be near the bottom of time-on-ground really doesn’t help. At least it has given Brooker a decent run at it… and after seven career games of footy at any level, I think she understands being a key forward better than Alexander.
  • Ex-Bomber Ally Anderson game-high 32 disposals and 9 clearances. Tied with ex-Bomber Ruby Svarc and other Bears for inside fifties, and they both also tied for game-high score involvements.
  • I’d love to see the stats for dropped marks by the Bears.

It’s not yet round 11 or 12, so no.

I agree Nat Wood should be moved on.

But using your logic so should Brad Scott. He lost 13 in a row after starting 6-4. Nat Wood has had to deal with a stack of injuries to key players, too.

Axe both of them

dont you dare threaten me with a good time

Our girls tried their guts out today. The tackling and one percenters were v impressive but we were severely outclassed.

Our stars are still good players but the rest of the comp seems to have improved dramatically and they (we) haven’t. Our newer players are either injured or struggling to have an impact and our skills are generally poor.

100-gamer tackle collision was brutal.

Does this suggest we were playing the “Drop Bears”?
