Comeback in on
First goal with 3:30 to play in the 3rd
I can’t get over how hesitant they are in both going for the ball and even when they get it. They appear to be fearful of getting tackled and just freeze until they are!
Emily Gough gets our first goal.
1.3.9 to 5.6.36
Momentum with us in the last 5 minutes of the third. Need to keep going. Is a difficult watch.
Thankfully Hawthorn supporters aren’t watching this one. The Oval would be covered in bottles. Some of the calls are incomprehensible.

Usual standard of AFLW umpiring sadly

It’s the non calls that are also killing us.

This game should be the end for Nat Wood.
We didn’t fire a single shot and GC aren’t that good.

She’s pretty reliably tacking them up.

Prespakis 38 disposals (i.e. ~57 for a men’s length game). Is she doing any damage?
Just our whole list make up confuses me really. We obviously have elite talent but there are too many players who have one or two good games a season and that keeps them in the side.

Charlie Rowbottom had about the same amount of footy and was much more noticeable.
So, not really, but her teammates weren’t exactly helping with that.

woosha esque
Connection between the players was a big issue in the swirling wind. Our players did a lot of damage to each other, rather than damaging the Suns.

The women’s system looks as broken as the men’s.

Recruiting of players from the underage pathways has been absolutely woeful aside from Gaylor.
Have missed with 90% of our picks

Johnstone and Brothwell look alright. I want to see Belloni played up the ground a bit more. In this team, she’s playing in the worst possible position to actually have opportunities to impact the game.
But we certainly haven’t benefitted as much as other clubs so far.

On track for a double this year.
aFL and AFLW teams both wooden spooners.
The 2026 AFL team and campaign is the worst in Essendon history.
