Scheer has kicked all 2.3 of this quarter.
Played well for 3 quarters, last quarter they seemed overawed.
Hopefully I donât have to listen to that woman commentator ever again.
Yep, our best are great but our depth is poor. Backline needs a lot of work.
again not that you can expect much in the first year, let alone from the comments made in the first half.
but the difference between good sides tactically puts an even bigger gap between sides.
geelong dominate all the stats essendon did for 3 qtrs in the last and could have easily kicked 5 odd goals, by the fact essendon kept going one on one.
meanwhile geelong like the mens set up people behind the play, waited for mistakes then went straight back over them to said one on ones.
tis sad cos they are obviously out there trying. but it is what it is.
Blame those AFLW players for their ethnic diversity.
Much tougher gig than AFLM commenting
Our turnovers were awful today. Doesnât matter if itâs VFLW or AFLW you turnover in the middle of the ground youâre going to get smashed the other way.
Still need to work on stoppages. We always go backwards first so itâs predictable to both us and the opposition. Geelong quite often just went forward and simply opened us up.
Forward line is too Toogood focused. Constantly two plus defenders on her. We need to find an open player or go the one on one option. Toogood also needs to recognise this to drag defenders out (lead right out or to wings more) to open the forward line more.
Our ruck today was much better. Didnât allow herself to get jumped on, made the contact early to prevent this. Handball skills need work but I like what is there.
VFLW players are getting better. Step up to AFLW took a bit of adjusting too.
Commentators were awful. Umpires were awful.
We also gave away a home game for what seemed like majority opposition support.
Disappointed a bit with that. Some really good footy with some equally dismal moments. Turnovers that last quarter cost us hugely and Van Loon got exposed big time. Still love the effort these players give though. I think a few on here mentioned we lack height in our backline and I agree that a decent key defender or 2 should be high on our list of targets in the off season. A bit of help for Maddy in the guts (fingers crossed her sister fancies coming home!) and a bit more outside run and carry I think weâd be a big chance for finals next year.
Thanks to all for commentary and analysis, from one unable to watch.
Did any Port Fairy Blitzers go to the game?
I think when I get referred to as a C-bomb, it means something completely different.

A Chloe Scheer fourth-quarter masterclass has hauled Geelong to a 15-point win over Essendon, boosting the Catsâ top-eight chances.
Scores were level at three-quarter time but two quick goals from powerhouse forward Scheer â following a rare period of clearance ascendency â gave the Cats the match-winning break in the 6.7 (43) to 4.4 (28) victory at Reid Oval in Warrnambool.
BOMBERS v CATS Full match coverage and stats
Essendon dominated general play, with Maddy Prespakis causing absolute chaos in the first half (18 disposals and five clearances, with a career-high 37 and 10 for the game) through creative disposal and sheer hard work in the contest.
But the Bombers just couldnât capitalise on the amount of footy they had at their disposal in the first half, finding it difficult to make headway into Geelongâs stingy defence.
By contrast, Geelong looked threatening on the limited occasions it did enter attack, with the marking prowess of Scheer and Shelley Scott (along with Jackie Parry bringing the ball to deck) causing headaches.
After Essendon trailed by 12 points at the main break, the ever-lively Paige Scott slotted her second to narrow the margin and the Bombers proceeded to control play for the remainder of the term, finally drawing level in the last few seconds via a Bonnie Toogood set shot.
Nina Morrison received treatment on a damaged finger in the second term after accidentally tangling with Prespakis in a marking contest, while Amy McDonald switched jumpers from No.3 to 55 following a cut to the head.
McDonald, meanwhile, may come under MRO scrutiny for a dangerous driving tackle against Steph Cain in the second term, where the Bombersâ co-captain landed awkwardly on her neck but took her free kick and played out the game.
Clearance goals
Essendon flipped the script on Geelongâs strong midfield, dominating the clearance count in the first three quarters to help pile enormous pressure on the Cats defence. McDonald finished with 25 disposals and 12 tackles but was down slightly on her usual clearance output, while young Bombers ruck Steph Wales made an impact at ground level with six clearances. Unsurprisingly, Geelong began to regain control in the fourth on the back of midfield work, but the Bombers finished 31-18 to the good in the clearance count.
Scheer power
With scores level at the start of the final quarter, there was one player who was determined to drag the Cats over the line. Scheer was almost unstoppable in the fourth term, with her contested marking and ability to find space resulting in a return of 2.3 in the space of 15 minutes to help the Cats lock up their fifth win of the season.
Up next
The two sides will take part in a Saturday double-header at Ikon Park to help celebrate Pride Round; Essendon will be first up against Sydney before Geelong face West Coast.

Good to see Frew play well in her first game back. Shouldnât have got dropped in first place.
Doonan is one Iâd look at dropping, Iâm just not sure what Doonan offers.
Looking like we will finish 9th this year, behind the Dogs (who just got murdered by Melbourne 9-73).
To make finals you need to actually get over the line against someone other than the four worst teams.
with more pragmatic coaching we probably make finals
Iâm not sure she was actually thinking of pile-driving Cain, but she did.
Definite Darby PTSD vibes. Let a tall Cat loose for one quarter, andâŚ
Tribunal to decide if Undertaker is allowed to pile-drive Cain.
