I would have thought there was at least a question mark over the honest, ethical, fair and leadership bit, which in my mind should have been top of the list of priorities in the recruitment process. As for NAB share prices - it did go down a lot in early 2020, high 20’s down to 16’s (recovered in 2021) but I don’t know what other factors were at play there. They still made insane profits, but 10% down on the previous year in the year he resigned.
Anyway, I don’t give a fark what his banking/business credentials are when it comes to running EFC. You don’t need to have run a bank to be a competent CEO of a footy club. There are plenty of other business sectors that would provide adequate experience and skills, and maybe some with less obvious question marks re: integrity.

I can see this thread being busy over the next few years.
The usual Blitz gatekeepers of morality, whose worldview is superior to the rest of the unenlightened plebs, will no doubt pin anything that goes wrong at the club on this guy, given their preconceived bias.

If that’s his faith then it’s a natural inclination to believe he will base decisions on it. That’s not a slippery slope. He’s not going to get to tulla every morning and keep it in his car for the day is he.
Diversity and understanding just seem to get blown to the reeds when it involves any type of christianity.

Blitz- I hope we can get behind Thorburn as CEO. I believe this is a brilliant appointment. I understand everyone’s hesitation but I think he will be outstanding for Essendon

I was so hoping this was one leak that turned out to be rubbish.
I’ve made my view pretty clear prior as to why this is an uninspiring appointment. Fingers crossed I’m wrong.

My belief is that if we just played inter staters & pissant teams like NM & Saints at Marvel & the rest of our home games at the G, it’s a small but vital step in helping our eventual final’s chances
I’m definitely not a man of faith but I don’t believe the issues you have raised are mutually exclusive to Christianity.
Are we to exclude all potential employees to the club who have personal faith and beliefs?
This is also off the back of one tweet, that could also be very wide of the mark.
