Disagree that we are seeing the benefits of Sydney still now. We are definitely investing money but it’s very different to how we are doing it. Rich benefactors certainly are helping!

That’s not too much with 3 rounds left. I was watching it for a bit and after about 8 or 9 holes Boutier was -4, Vu was -5 and Minjee was +2. Or something like that…
On this course there are plenty of doubles and triples out there.

Based on history our 2036 games will be where we peak. My only concern is that AFLW and NRLW will suck out much of our female talent in future years. We already see the impact on the men’s team with our women leading the way - even if 3 of 4 golds last night where won by males.

Particularly pleased for the men’s cycling Gold. Among the foreign media, good write up in France24. Brit media so downcast, thought they were going to come home with a bag of Golds for the men on wheels. Their women doing better.
Sorry the Kiwis didn’t get Gold, but Silver is worthy.

I think the success of Sydney put the Olympics on our radar more than ever, hence the abundance of continued financial support for a lot of the athletes and sports post. Plus interest too from the general public. We now crave the the gold!

There’s probably some sort of “new sports” correction that needs to be made though. 9 or 10 of the golds weren’t events at, say, Barcelona
I reckon the swimming people in particular will have already been put on notice to ensure they do as much as they can over the next 8 years to get some more ultra elite male swimmers coming through the ranks. There’s still time.

we watched a few events during the day, and I remember Stephen Holland’s 1500m swim being our big chance… and nup… came third being beaten by two Americans

I was in grade 3 for Atlanta. We are wrote letters to Olympians. Mine went to a Boxer, if I looked properly I probably remember who it is.
