Cycling is my favourite for watching, cool heads needed with so many tactics and the need to adapt to bike mishaps. My greatest disappointment was Shane Kelly’s mishap at the start in the Atlanta Olympics. Otherwise he could have had a well deserved Gold medal.

If they paid their taxes our governments would waste it! Direct investment is the best way of ensuring money ends up going exactly where it’s needed and not lost through bureaucracy of governments and sporting bodies.

We love our sports here, have plenty of cash to spend on them and thus are reaping the results.

The private sector is not prominent in the venues or development of state of the art technology. They just do it at the pointy end.
All the outlays by the parents and the money spent by individuals to get to overseas comps and training by those without sponsors, who go on to be world champs.

The 51yo Brit was really a Yank from San Diego. He only qualified as a Brit because his father was born in Luton.

From memory (the last Olympics), he was born in the US, lived In Australia as a kid, then moved back to the US as a teenager.
Probably fair. They might waste it on hospitals or schools instead of GOLD GOLD GOLD!!
