Annual rinsing v Geelong Match Review 2025 (1/2)

Either way it’s annoying.

We’ve reached that portion of the season

Its what we want

Maybe we’ll never know and it’s hard to see how he could have been a worse inclusion than the 2 newbie’s
Tsartis is a midfielder, an area where the cats are really strong and where we could have done with a boost
Ditto Hobbs 110% and Shiels skill and running.

Time to give Brad a holiday and give one of the assistants a go
There are very few of our games where Brad has earned the well coached’ tag. Now he’s on the debut of players wagon - happy to throw them to the wolves and regardless of results.

Im not sure if it’s already been said, and apologies if it has, I couldn’t bring myself to read through the thread, but we won’t be a premiership threat until the tide is turned and we bully Geelong on field. It is the annual reality check to any thought of EFC progressing. Our team just give up and run through the motions each time, and that says that the team dont believe they can beat Geelong.

Until our team becomes the bigger and better side, we are not contending for anything.

We have to become bigger, faster, better drilled, better skilled, and play with belief. Until that happens, the EFC will still be a shell of its former self.

I didnt (dont) want Hird back, but Im coming to the conclusion that it might be the only way to stop the rot that has set into the culture.

In the members area yesterday, we had a big family of Geelong supporters—at least five of them—sitting directly behind us.

Before quarter time, I overheard them inviting some mates (another sizeable group of Cats fans) over the phone to join them in the empty seats beside us.

Sure enough, they wandered down and by the second quarter, we were just about surrounded.

Not if your playing a young side.

Yeah you need hawthorns culture.

They haven’t had a plethora of top 3 draft picks, but they are rebuilding nicely.

Its hard.

Only a few years ago west coast were flying. Look at them now.

based on their history West Coast should be back as a competitive force soon enough

I think we need to get ruthless with our list.

You don’t need lots of small inside mids.

We need some outside talent

Tsatsas was the wrong decision. Why pick him when we had Merrett, Parish, Shiel, Hobbs etc already on the list?

Just the wrong type

We’ve moved passed Shiel, people don’t rate Hobbs and Parish is injury prone.

Have they this sustained level of failure before?

Brad says a lot of things. His actions don’t back up his words

As soon as jones is healthy again. He will be straight back into the team

Can almost guarantee Langford will be straight back in as well, even though he should be playing a few games in the VFL first

Yep, it’s beyond annoying

I pay for a reserved seat because I want to sit with other bomber supporters and not have to deal with ■■■■ head opposition supporters

But all the club cares about is money, so they couldn’t care less about it

We didn’t need Dermie in the rooms before the game. We needed him in there at half time telling the players to draw a line in the sand - that we are no longer going to let Geelong physically bully us and reduce us to a puff of dust. Until we do that we will continue to be their play things.

What was the point of playing a ruckman in the backline…

There was no one else?

We beat the cats in congested footy.

We actually needed better skills/execution and calmness under pressure than we needed to simply be hard at it.

The kids tried hard, just got showed up by the best in the biz.

It sucks but I think for once there’s a good reason to learn from the game.
