There’s significantly more guns in Australia now than at the time of the Port Arthur shootings. Not all guns were given up.
But there’s also fewer registered owners, and more people. So it’s mostly gun owners stocking up, with about 4 guns per licensed gun owner. Plus the grey market.
I find a lot of people form firm opinions based on news anecdotes that trigger an emotional response. Seems evidence barely comes into it. Case-in-point, my father constantly talks about ‘carnage on the roads’ in NZ today when per-capita you were 25 times more likely to die in a vehicle accident in 1974. But it’s on the news …

Mass shooting just hit the Murdoch family, as a Nevada judge shoots down the Rupert ìnspired attempt to enshrine his choice of heir to the far right supporting media empire he built.
The Judge says Rupert acted in bad faith trying to change the trust he himself set up. That is a highly plausible judgement.
Bad faith actor. He has not mellowed with age. He has all the characteristics of a 93 year old ■■■■ sphincter.

This CEO shooting has been an amazing thing to watch unfold. I honestly cant remember seeing the US so united since 9/11.

Unless the jury is made up of CEOs how many people don’t have a negative interaction with US health care.

I dont venture into political stuff on youtube much, (at all to be honest) but following the story lead me to the comment sections on Ben Shapiro and Matt Walshes (predictably
terrible) videos on the topics. The comment sections on both actually gave me hope the current political divide in the world is most certainly an manufactured illusion.
