I remember Mrs Azza and I were in Florida a few years back and went to a Wal-mart (or Kmart, something like that) to get some supplies for our cruise and the amount of guns they had out on display was insane. Not in cabinets or behind a counter (well, the handguns were), but basically on a shelf where you could pick em up an play with him. In theory you could have taken in your own ammo, loaded up a rifle and blasted away.
This was 10 years ago. Not sure what it’s like these days.

Gun Shows were the place to buy anything you wanted. Rules were that ammo was supposed to be seperate, but you could buy the bullets at the stand opposite and just load them into any gun on the table without even a glance.
That said, Gun Shows are always without trouble. I guess people know if you try something stupid there would a hundred guns filling your body lead in seconds.
I could buy a hand gun without any documentation or check.
