At the movies - From the couch

I liked The Witch but had some issues with The Northman so i’m not going in with blinkers on. Going to rewatch N’man tonight, his films at least feel like they’re worth going to a cinema for. The Lighthouse was enjoyable and Hereditary -edit- not Eggers! just bonkers.

Hereditary was by Ari Aster not Eggers

You’re right, my mistake. Still bonkers

Yeah good film, they were both up and comings of the horror genre, so it’s easy to get em confused.

I might’ve chucked Midsommar in there if I was being especially careless. Good spate of films that freshened up and broadened the genre out over a few years there.

I’ve got a mate who’s gagging to see it.

So it’s next on my mates movie watch list. I go for the company.

Don’t always get to pick the movie.

Hoping I enjoy it

If it’s any consolation, I very much enjoyed The Witch. And Hereditary. And Midsommer. All spooky and original enough to keep me watching.

Gunner (2024)
Luke Hemsworth, Morgan Freeman

Hemsworth is an ex special forces guy trying to reestablish his relationship with his two sons. Freeman is in jail and the head of a drug network although his son is now running things on the outside. Hemsworth takes his sons camping and stuff goes wrong.

Hemsworth missed out on both the family good looks and is easily at the bottom of the pile when it comes to acting ability.

Freeman must have needed the money to add his name to this pile of doodoo.

Some of the worst CGI I’ve seen for awhile.

Take it from me…I have sacrificed my time so that none of you will ever have to watch this.

It’s crap!!!

Nosferatu is very very good cinema.

I mean it’s the only movie I’ve seen this year. But it’s no dud.

Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Depp’s daughter is a star.

Wish I’d caught it at IMAX. Although it was good just at a big screen at the muliplex

Cool Hand Luke - Paul Newman
1967(?)

I won’t bother with the review. You probably know enough. The movie is deemed a classic, and has an amazing 100% on rotten tomatoes.

I gotta say, it didn’t really do it for me. Sure, it was ok. And great to see a classic, with the big name performers. Sure, some of the camerawork was great. There was some interesting iconography playing theoughout.

If you want a ‘man Vs the system’ movie, then One Flew over the cuckoos nest is much better movie.

But I could only give it a 6-6.5 / 10

Tell me I’m wrong.

You just don’t know your limitations.

The Paul Newman film I like best is The Verdict.

Saw Den of thieves 2 tonight…. It sucked. So damn boring. They took everything that was entertaining about the first one and went the complete opposite way
